Here's a "Talk About Anything" thread

I played pond hockey, high school hockey, college hockey and old boys hockey. In my opinion to allow a fine competition between two excellent teams boil down to a shoot out is terrible. If the game is tied after 3 periods, either call it a tie or continue with OT periods until a winner scored. Bring back the days of Bobby Hull, Stan Mikita, Gordie Howe and Maurice Richard. It's a team sport not a one on one.. Imagine if football or basketball games were settled this way.

Just my biased opinion!

It was a great hockey game!

I think the move from sudden death OT was all to do with TV time slots, the 5 mins followed by the shoot out gave them a very predictable time frame. I think most hockey fans would prefer the old system, just seemed more fair.

well its a talk about anything this is crazy

Bordercollie or Two Guns if you are on here in the next couple of hours please reply, I finally have the fresh fish I was expecting and I want to try your recipes, I don't have peanut oil but I do have some lard my wife rendered down from some pigs I just killed; have you tried using that and if so should I use the same temperature of 375 degrees. I am going to try some of the halibut.

Maybe this will give you a good answer.....:harley:

I would not go above 375 degrees. Don't think that Lard will take that much more higher temp...
Lard CAN NOT BE cooked as hot as peanut oil

Smoke Point on:

Lard is 370 F degrees

Vegitable Oil is 329 F degrees

Peanut Oil is 437 F degrees

Be careful.

Remember, Lard will burn easy !!!

OK, 90 minutes have passed. Is it hot yet?

Speaking of hot, it's going to get that way here this week. Temps will actually reach the 30's in the next few days! :) Oh, we're looking forward to that. -7° this morning. It used to be the school would delay for that but everyone is getting used to it so it's a normal school day. (Oh, and the kids had school today, President's day, to make up for a missed sub-zero temp day they took off earlier this year).

How do you know you live in LOUISIANA.....

Well, let me tell you.

We freeze to death. We have ICE & SNOW.

A couple of days later. It is 72 F degrees

AND WE ARE FIGHTING MOSQUITOES !!! DAMN !!!
CRAZY WEATHER !!!

Hey Peanut, got any big mosquito stories you want to share. For I have some !!!

.......... two guns :whip:

Thank you two guns I am trying to get my oil up to temperature now.

How'd it go Baijiu ? I'm sorry that I missed your question.. I just got in from the fence fixing and...hungry... You can use other cooking oil- just not olive oil- if in a pinch.. Peanut oil is good in that it will get a bit hotter without smoking. Two Guns knows his stuff. Now, I want some fried fish dog gone it. ;) When you get the time, you gotta have some good fried hushpuppies to go with that fried fish...talking about good! Mama's were dropped by the spoonful into the hot grease and flipped half way through when they browned . It is sorta like fried cornbread with a just a bit of extra baking powder >(makes 'em rise quick in the hot grease and puff up) add some sliced jalapenos, a bit of onion and a tad of drained whole kernel corn mixed in the batter.. Not too much or it won't hold together..delicious .. When I eat them, I think I have died and gone to Heaven. :) :) collie

King.......I want to thank you for posting that information.....am watching it in like 10 to 15 minute segments. Surely am glad I live up here on my mountain and pretty much can live off of what we do here or out there in the woods.......Spooky for what is coming for my grandchildren.
About the bees.......I haven't seen honeybees around here polinating or just buzzing around in like forever. LOTS of bumblebees doing that job it seems here. I live pretty much in the Chattahoochee national forest and one would think for sure there should be some wild bees there.......Anyway, thanks for the information.......God bless.....Dennis
