Hunting cat with archery!?!? I know I'm not that good. Cats are too small and fast for me. Nice job and congrats! Dumb question, but what kind of cat? At first glance, I thought bobcat based on size and color but the ears don't look pointy enough.

I thought bobcat but the defining attributes, like the tuft ears, weren't quite visible to my old eyes when looking at the pic.

Thanks, it is a bobcat. We have been losing some barn cats to this guy

Dang, what a shot that must've been. Congats to your son. :tiphat: We have some around here but the only ones I've seen were hit by a car or truck ....and that was years ago. See signs of them and coyotes but never get an eye on either.

So, I need a little work done on my Kubota Grand L 3010 tractor. 400 hour service and a couple other things. Dealer I bought it from charged me $50 to pick up and deliver the tractor back to me years ago when I bought it. I expected that price to be higher now that gas has about doubled in price but I was not ready for this shocker. $3 a loaded mile. What??!!! I'm 40 to 45 miles away so does that mean $120 round trip? No, I heard them right a loaded mile, so it would be $240 just to pick up my tractor and bring it back to me. Damn. I procrastinated on the work.

I had never considered going to another dealer. The one up the road the other direction does not believe in Super UDT so they will not carry it. So I do a dealer search and find another dealer only about 35 miles from me. I had forgotten he opened up shortly after I bought my Grand L in 02. I called and sure nuff he carries Super UDT and he will pick up and deliver my tractor back to me for $60. Awesome. He's picking up the tractor this Saturday and I'll have her back mid week. Perfect. Ahh, it's nice to have options. :D

Glad you found a place that's reasonable. Did you also check on the price for the service itself?

So, I was in the woods yesterday looking for places to put the tree stands for hunting.

I got that done but then sat there on the ATV just looking around. A squirrel came out of a tree about 40 yards away and started digging around for acorns. It approached me with an interested glance about every 10 seconds. It would then scamper a few yards on the ground, climb about 5' up a tree, look at me then repeat. I sat there wondering how close it would get. Well, it got close. It hopped up on the front rack of the ATV! It then stared at me for a few seconds before hopping off and proceeding on its quest for acorns.

Never had a squirrel get that close to me in the woods before...

bczoom,
I am still laughing. For you never know what they are going to do !!!

Squirrels are funny. Squirrels are will surprise you.

Can relate to that. A few years ago, talking to a man in front of my shop. A
squirrel came out of a tree, run up to him, stared at him about 3 seconds, turned and looked at me and jumped on my leg, about my knee. I frooze, didn't know what to do. That squirrel only stayed there about five seconds looking up at me. Then jumped down, and went back the same way he came from. ........... I JUST ABOUT PASSED OUT !!! Didn't know if he was going to run on up my leg, or just look down and bite the piss out of my knee. Man started smiling and said, " Never seen that before", my reply, " Me either " ...

P.S.
What is crazy, is sit in a deer stand ( about 100 yds away ) and watch a black bear put his foot on your floorboad of your RTV, lean in and start sniffing your steering wheel and your seat , not know if he is going to take a bite out of it or not. They have tore up more things in the woods that belongs to us, than I can list .....
They love to tear up stuff. And by law, you can't shoot one down here, Yet !!!

Went down to get the Amish boys to help me move 2 things in the barn so I can pull the camper in for the winter. They had seen this buck in the field behind my house last Saturday when we were cutting wood. Yesterday he was in the pasture sniffing for the girls and I took some pics of him. Took the camera along and showed dad before I started teasing them about having that buck corralled in my pasture. Then I showed them the pics and they like to piss themselves. The youngest got a small 6 point with his bow and also got a 23 lb. gobbler with shotgun. His older brothers have not gotten anything yet. They will be back on Saturday to cut and split some more wood and they will be watching for him.

You made this too easy. Maybe the squirrel thought you were a giant nut. Maybe an Rtv nut Lol

Yea, I'm a nut. If I didn't have a windshield between me and that squirrel, I probably would have shooed it away so it wouldn't pounce on me.

Nice deer muley! I went over to Ohio yesterday to pick up 1250 pounds of corn to feed the deer (after hunting season). 1000 pounds of it are going to my step mom as that is going to be her Christmas present this year. She was buying it in 50# bags at a local store which was charging her way too much.

What are you finding for the price of bags vs by the ton????? Here in N.W. Ga the bags are going for in the lower $9 to $10 range. Wishing I had a way to save 1000 lb as the local feed store gives me the ton price on stuff I use a lot of: goat chow, nitro fert, and lime. Where or how to store that much corn would be the problem.

So far this fall my feeder that dispenses 2 or 3 times per day has gone through maybe two hundred pounds with quite a bit left on the ground. My game cam, pointed at the feeder, catches LOTS of turkey and crow with a white tail showing up maybe once a week.

Wondering if the bumper crop of acorns due to heavy spring and summer rains are keeping the deer in the woods........OR........the presence maybe a couple times of month of stray dogs, coyotes, and fox showing up on the cam is thinning their numbers down?????........In the past the cam showed up with deer maybe 4 or 5 nights per week..........God bless.......Dennis

Don't know about anybody else. But here, we either get it coming out of the fields. Or, one can go to the grain elevators and purchase it that way. We usally haul it by barrels with locking lids .....

55 barrel drum of corn weight is 350-360 lbs.

Saves much $$$$
