    Kubota recall

Got the call late last week from our dealer letting us know about the recall (2014 RTV-X900). They're going to send someone out to swap them on-site once I call them back and set up a time...

Options other than $1250 glass windshield

Are you aware that Kubota has two different Glass windshields for the X900? Laminated is the $1,200 one; Tempered is just under $800. This is getting the "Versacab" pieces.

    Lightbars

I added a 120W ebay LED bar onto our -X900. I have the metal roof and glass versa-cab windshield. The roof already had two holes drilled, so I fabbed up a mount using some 3/4" square tubing - basically added a couple of tabs to mount the lightbar to, then used the factory roof holes to bolt...

    GoPro dash cams

Battery life may be your limiting factor for trail riding -- you can get big memory cards, and at lower resolutions you'll get plenty of video, for as long as the battery lasts. If you have a roof and windshield (or can otherwise keep it all dry) you might want to look into a skeleton housing so...

    GoPro dash cams

On the GoPro, higher fps (e.g. 1080p60 vs 1080p30) will reduce the "jello effect" cause by vibration. The expense is higher (nearly double) file size. For routine stuff, 720 video produces very good quality, and file sizes aren't crazy.

    GoPro dash cams

GoPro's aren't really ideal for a DashCam -- they have a loop feature, but it's not really ideal for that as I read it (I've got 3 Gopro's - 2 original HD Hero's without the loop feature, and a new Hero4 Silver.) The 5Black supports 4k resolution at 30fps -- the lower lines don't support the...

    New x1100 just purchased

Mine's actually on an X900, but should be the same. Follow the directions as far as what order to assemble things! I didn't wait to try and attach the lift frame (the part with the hydraulic bits) and ended up having to crack open one of the lines in order to re-compress the angle cylinder to...

    New x1100 just purchased

There's some 'tolerance' in the mounting holes. I ended up loosening the top 4 mounting bolts and levering the mount down just a smidge so that the notch was actually clear of the receiver tube. Don't get me wrong -- I think it's a well-engineered and built plow, and after the first winter...

    New x1100 just purchased

Make sure that whomever installs the plow does it such that it doesn't block the front hitch... I had to re-work mine (I did the install, not the dealer) when I realized that it was blocking the receiver. Still not entirely sure I can use the front receiver with the plow mount installed, but at...

    Radio reception problems

There's a good chance that the external antenna isn't even being used for AM reception - AM on most modern vehicle head units now is so marginalized that the antenna/reception is an afterthought, it seems. It's usually a "bar" type, internal to the unit, for AM. That said -- on older head...

    New lights on the 1100

In my case I ran them from the aux fuse panel, which was an option I added when I ordered the machine. The panel is hot when the ignition is on - I put a rocker switch in the aux switch panel. I would recommend you include a switch, even if you leave it on all the time. Being able to cut the...

    New lights on the 1100

20" eBay 120W light bar, mounted to the metal roof using factory holes, and a custom made mount.

    Boss Plow oil leak

Magnuson-Moss warranty act is pretty clear that they can't deny a warranty just because you used a different brand part/fluid. As long as it meets the specs, you'll be fine. If you use bad stuff, yes they can deny a claim if they can prove that the part/fluid was the cause of the problem, but...

    Really Kubota !!!

Standard Reese 2" drawbar fits just fine in the front (and rear) receivers of my 2014 X900. I have a higher-offset drawbar of unknown origin that fits, but due to the gusseting on the offset it doesn't go in far enough to expose the hitch-pin holes. At some point I'll drill new holes to fix...

    Plow Lights

The 18W LED's that I used are 1360 Lumens each. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00DR67P9I/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I don't have any pics of the rear lights yet, but they're, IMO, pretty bright, with good coverage. Plenty to work by, and with two separate lights they can...

Loading RTV 500 in 6.5ft bed.

Watch your weights - the RTV500 is 1200-1300 stock. The 2013 F-150 payload capacity is 1,046 to 1,988 lbs, and that includes not just what's in the bed, but passengers too.

    Plow Lights

I quickly figured out the same thing! I mounted a 20" LED light bar (~$65) to the metal roof of my -X900 using the existing holes, and a bracket I made up. Ended up also adding a pair of 18w low-profile LED's (from Amazon this time) to the rear, mounted to existing holes in the frame of the...

    Adjusting front Struts on x900

I bought this spanner for use on my X900: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00E6KTV6E/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1 It's probably too small, but got the job done well enough. I lifted the front of the RTV to take the weight off, and was able to move the adjusters in either...

    Fuse on Boss Plow

Sorry, My comment was more in general - there could be several failure modes that result in not being able to lift the plow for transport. Naturally, any such failure is going to occur as far as possible from the shop/tools/spares.
