Think we A'skert 'em off????

This pattern will impact my area and 'Ol Dougster's a little differently. We'll see- Jay :letitsnow: :hide2:
The old Dougster remains smack dab in the middle of another one of these endless nuisance snow events... the kind I hate worst of all. :( I need to attend the Mass Grows show in Boston today... but I hesitate to leave home lest this nuisance snow suddenly achieve more intensity and more than 2" depth... bringing the town plows out and thereby signalling my need to start a dubious and marginal paying run. :(

I could be called for a couple clean-ups anyway... so I shouldn't really venture far from home This is not a good situation for me at all. :(

Dougster :starbucks:

p.s., Jay: I give you my permission to refer to "civesnedfield" simply as "the old Edster"! :) -d

Looks like the old Dougster ain't going anywhere today as this snow continues to fall and depths approach the plowing trigger point. I'm sure I'll have to plow at least some steep driveways. It's just as well... I am behind on everything here today anyway.

:wtf::poke: Do I hear Dougster WHINING over there?? I can hear old Chris singin now.. "we got a $5 fine for whining, we tell you before you come in..."

Sorry there Kid. :( I know it goes with the territory. If you want the fame, fortune and glory that goes along with being a snowplow guy... you've got to give up a lot too.

Well Doug, did you get the magic number ? (2 inches of snow):king: Are PLOW KING :king: or :yuk: POOR THING??? :furious:

I just had to get into this super thread.... :eek2:

You guys are amazing, 344 posts in this thread. Awesome. :thumb:

And dang near as many topics with-in the thread:yum:

Got an update on an old one, plus a NEW one too:cool:

First, todays sugar level update! Last night saw the lowest test yet. 128. 1-1/2 after dinner, it was 155. First thing this morning, when it's usually at the highest of the day, 167. Steadily declining numbers!:applause: That's what we're looking for. Difference between low and high narrowing somewhat also. And that's a good thing. Looks like meds and proper diet is doing the trick ALREADY!

AND I FEEL SO MUCH BETTER:wink:

And next on the morning report;

Yesterday afternoon I left work a couple hours early. The Mrs. and I ran a few errands. We stopped to get a bite to eat. Just as we pulled in the parking lot, police car came skidding to a stop behind a car pulling a boat & trailer right in front of the restaraunt. They were busting a rolling meth lab. It was set up IN THE BOAT. :badidea: Next thing I know, there's probably 20 police cars, fire dept, hazmat, tv news crews, a couple helocopters flying overhead, and traffic out the waazoo. We couldn't get out of the parking lot for over 2 hours. :waiting: So we walked next door to Krogers and did our weekly grocery shopping.

Some exciting wild friday night, huh:yum:

By the way, shopping for groceries with an eye on cholesteral/sugar/carbos can be VERY expensive compared to eating whatever you want.

It is an unfortunate reality the way fats, sugar and salt is hidden in food  . I now have to read every label and some the alleged "good for you stuff" really is not that good for you when you study the label :pat: . I also have areally good calorie/carbohydrate gram/fat carb counter paperback book which is quite informative. Keep up the good work :respect: . Jay :letitsnow:

What I've learned real quick is the difference between "diet" and safe for diabetics. I've found "sugar free" items that were jacked up with high carbs. It takes a lot of very carefull reading to distinguish what is safe and what ISN'T.

The doctor's dietary guidelines looked impossible on day one. For the 5 days since, I've managed to consume LESS fats, LESS carbs, LESS sugar, and LESS calories and still had decent meals. This isn't going to be as bad as I first thought. And if I keep up this rate, I can have something "outside the box" every now and then.

The real motivation is I FEEL SO MUCH BETTER ALREADY! :applause:

Farmwithjunk:

Check out the South Beach Diet information. I have managed with good success to manage both my sugars and weight (losing 40#'s to my disease did help, but I have not gained anything back  . I do not recommend contracting BOOP with HP as a method of weight control  .). I do log in all the calories and carbo-grams I eat daily as well as my blood sugars around 6 times each day (in addition to BP, pulse, and O2) :pat:. It is a royal PITA, but it has kept me from another trip to the hospital  . Jay:letitsnow:

PS: Keep up the great work!

Looks like both you guys are doing better.:tiphat: That's great!

Thanks- Nica:

The "specialists" treating me are telling me they can not believe how well I am handling everything that has recently impacted on me. Believe it or not NTT has been one of the more supportive environments within I interact :D. Once again thank you all for the support :respect: . Jay :letitsnow:

No magic number yet Tim. :o Nothing but nuisance snow. :unhappy: So it's still gruel and 55 degrees at Dougster Manor. :( Maybe a billable snowfall by the end of the weekend, but I am not holding my breath.

Farmwithjunk,
Glad to hear you are better.:tiphat: I wish my Dad would realize this. He doesn't eat right and now is not getting out and staying busy. He just sits around and feels tired all day. He is 87 with a pinned hip and two knee replacements and a cracked tail bone. Yes, he has fallen a time or two.
hugs, Brandi

Jay, there's any number of common denomenators we all share here....Tractors, lifestyles, curiousity regarding Dougster, and the list goes on. But first and foremost, I get the impression we'd all be great friends no matter how we would have met. And friends care about each other's health and well being. In the end, I'm NOT suprised when we get the support and encouragement from these guys. I AM however, eternally greatfull for that friendship.

I just got back from the docs office. They drew blood for lab work. I noticed a sign on the wall that I missed the other day when I was there. It said, "The positive emotions from having friends is better than any perscription we can give".

Sounds about right....just another one of us hard headed old men.:pat:

Thanks.

Prayers for your dad too....

Dougster :starbucks: :

These little systems are making me a little crazy :lam: along with the fact that I can not get all my weather data so far this morning . All I am seeing is nuisance snow for you right now unless the cold temperature "plug" hangs in your area and this pending cold low brings in some decent snow squalls Sunday. Just out of curiousity what is your elevation? It must be driving you nuts to see plowable events all around you, especially to the north, west, and higher elevations. I would not be surprised if you get active next week (but if I remember correctly I said the same thing last week  ). Jay :letitsnow:

I believe my elevation here is about 110 feet (town average... I am slightly higher). The Boston stations are hedging their bets again. Some say plowable snow likely... others are thinking more on the sleet and rain side. As always, I am right on that rain/snow line in most forecasts.
