Right rear wheel locked up ‘21 rtv1140x. 129hrs

ok it’s just me and what ever I can get to get the throttle up and take a reading. No fixed tech yet. I got 1440 low idle and 3540 pedal pegged. Call it 3600 cause I had a little bit more 1/2” to go ( stick to short😂. Not sure how to check high without pedal and get each reading at the same. But there is still plenty room left on upper stop backed off to get 3800. Manual throttle? I cleaned out the spark arrester today to. Got to 20mph wheels up. Your turn when you have a chance. Bless you.

I repeat. You need 3600 to 3800 rpm with the max rpm adjustment on the throttle arm against the stop. And from there the real adjustments can begin. Get someone to hold the lever against the stop while you check the tach? Forget the peddle for now.

18 mph running. Top speed
Maybe use gorrila tape and tape the tach in position and read it with a mirror or something while you adjust the gov.
tomorrow. I’ll figure it out. Thank you

This only works if you follow the steps in exact order. When done you will have eliminated the common misadjusted control functions and then you can move from there with confidence.

Ok. Thanks for your patients. I’m sitting at 3750 rpm at high stop. 1/8” of stop using pedal. 1450 at low idle stop.

Ok great. Now we move on to the good stuff.
1. Disconnect the throttle cable from the governor control lever..disconnect the control linkage from the hst speed control lever on the rear of the transmission.
2. Confirm that the bellcrank is centered in its detent.
3. Loosen and adjust the pedal stop under the go peddle all the way down.
4. Gently push the go peddle down until all of the travel in the peddle is taken up without distortion of the peddle.
5. With the peddle pushed down without distortion readjust the peddle stop up until it touches the peddle and tighten the jamb nut.
6. Hold the peddle down against the now properly adjusted peddle stop and readjust the hst control rod so that the hst speed lever is at max travel less just a hair as to not be at hard stop.
7. With the peddle still against the stop reconnect and adjust the cable to the governor control lever so that the governor control is just touching the high idle stop without making the cable to tight.
8. Now release the peddle and cycle it a few times then put it against the stop again and hold it there while you check that these all happen at exactly the same time. Peddle against stop...governor against high idle stop without stressing the cable and the hst speed lever at max travel.

Whew. I’m gonna have to stare at it for a while to get it to make sense but hey I made it this far. Press on!!!! Thank you. Lots of linkages. I’m pretty sure I get. Diving in tomorrow👍👍👍✌️🙏

Be careful to follow the order exactly. It takes to much to explain
Ok. Had to stop for the evening. Quite a dance with linkages. I get full throttle now but now the idle is high. The only way to achieve the high stop ( because the throttle has only so much travel was to shorten the cable just a bit. I could not get peddle down and then idle down. I think I get the idea. Disconnect cable and hvt link Set floor stop, pin it down, set cam pivot at high point. I’m using my words vs detect. Adjust hvt rod to max forward minus a hare. Reconnect check throttle is at upper stop at full peddle. but there is only so much pivot on the throttle it won’t return to idle. I traded Max rpm for low rpm going up. What am I missing

In order to get an idea i need to ask a few questions. Has the push pull cable between the peddle and the bell crank been ajdusted? With the peddle at the top of its travel and the bell crank in detent is there adjustment possible on the push pull cable to raise the peddle?

Probably seems sloppy

That's a problem. You need full range of motion at the peddle and on the bellcrank. Try disconnecting everything again and adjust the push pull cable so that there isn't any wasted travel.

OK we’re getting closer. I got the way it works. It leaves little room for error. That being said. I pushed pulled and started at tic on the detent and wot and worked backwards. Bottom line I need a new cable from throttle to lever replaced. It works and I got 21 mph today. Thank you for sticking with me. I think I can get 23-24 with some mods in the linkage system. Peddle stop froze and broke so in peddle to the floor. Blah blah blah. I got family coming. Wife’s dad’s funeral. Salmon fishing tomorrow turkey and deer next week steelhead fishing the week after. I owe you something. Knowledge is priceless but I’ll catch up in a week or so after the holiday. Thank you. Ordered a tach. That will help. Cheers

Mike

Congratulations. The whole performance spectrum is programmed into that belcrank. With everything in spec as the peddle begins to move the rpm rise and the swash begins to tilt. The power curve of the engine matches the hst perfectly. Changing relief pressure as long as they are in spec has no effect. For extra speed you can increase air pressure in your tires to 20 psi rear and 18 psi front to make a big improvement. Then you can take advantage of ratio and put 26 inch tires on your rims. I get 30 mph in perfect conditions.

Thank you for your help. I’m on a few days of. Happy thanksgiving Back at it Sunday✌️🙏

I’m on a fishing trip for a couple days. The throttle cable from motor to linkage to pedal cable needed ordering. Will be in on Friday. Start sat. I’ll be able to answer your question. Thanks. Mike
