Kubota RTV 900 transmission problem - hardley moves in gear!

Those instructions are crap. No wonder they are free with every kit purchase. I did manage to take lots of pictures. Lubed up everything that moves. Closed everything up.

Not testing yet. Going to review the WSM and make sure I didn't miss anything. I remember some of the bolts need to be sealed. Also must refill transmission case. Should be able to test pressure tomorrow. Strange that the new cylinder block assembly has a groove on the outside and the new bearing has a plastic cage for the balls (not impressed with that). One other advice is to order the kit separately. One gasket was warped.

nothing wrong with a plastic cage. but i still like metal cause i am old and set in my ways. the cage just holds it all together for assembly and isn't needed when installed. except it might help just a little during a catastrophic failure.

First test was 2000psi just above idle. Then adding more fluid. Then I'm going to let it idle for a few minutes. Check fluid level again. Side note: Charge pump must not be dead after all. Didn't check that pressure. I did my best to prime the charge pump. I made fluid flow out of the pressure test port. I have seen the metal bearing cage fail, almost junked a zd21, got a used pump and got it going again. I still would like a metal one. Seems like plastic would allow the bearing too much slack over time. Also made a huge mess by dropping a bucket of hydraulic fluid from the teardown, spilling over a gallon.

Wheels off test. Never got that before. 25mph! I'm stoked, previous best was close to 15mph.

Now I gotta put everything else back together, uggggg. It was totally worth the effort. I will go get a new set of filters and do another fluid flush. Three cheers for aurthuritis for sticking in there to the end. I could have done it without you, but it's best to seek help from someone with more experience. To get a rtv for the amount of money I paid for it and this repair would have been out of my budget. $6000 for a rtv of similar hours and quality wasn't going to happen in 2015. I seen several reach $9k with sub 1000hr on them.

I already had some experience with the zd21. I kinda knew what to expect. For someone with 0 experience, I'm not sure I would recommend trying it even with the WSM. WSM lacks lots of details for this task and is too detailed in other non-essential areas. The kit instructions are even worse, mentioning parts and pieces of items not discussed until reassemble steps and the diagrams were pathetic. Poppit L is 7 steps from the end of the instructions. No mention of it before 11.

yes those WSM are written and translated poorly. i would like for someone to have those worn parts sent to a lab for a detail analysis to see why they failed so early. i have my suspicions.
