I am south of you a few hundred miles. Last weekend, we got 7 inches of snow. It hung around all this past week and was finally melted by the 1.5" of rain we got Saturday. Woke up yesterday morning to an inch of fresh snow. Woke up this morning and it was 5F. It never got out of the teens today. Heading back down to single digits for the next two nights. Brrrrrr........ I don't even want to start my X1100......I'm about 100 miles south of you. We got up to 16 today. Single digits later tonight. No more snow thankfully. We have about 14 inches on the ground. I'm ready for spring!!!!! So READY.
Sounds like a bad voltage regulator to me. If it is a 12VDC system and it is charging @ over 16VDC, in my experience in the past, it was always the voltage regulator. Running over 16VDC has a tendency to melt headlight bulbs and tailight bulbs over a period of time.Took me about 30 minutes to get the tractor running. Hydraulics took another 45 minutes of warming up.
I've got some sort of electrical ghost in the tractor so I have to jump start it every time. I'll pop a new battery in it next. After that, will look at starter and voltage regulator. Once the tractor did get running, I was getting over 16V. Bad voltage regulator?
I'm not an electrical expert but I'd also say there is a problem with regulator. But now why is it going dead? Would a bad regulator do that too or is battery pooched?Took me about 30 minutes to get the tractor running. Hydraulics took another 45 minutes of warming up.

Over charging the battery is effectively boiling it. Over charging a battery will make it go bad.I'm not an electrical expert but I'd also say there is a problem with regulator. But now why is it going dead? Would a bad regulator do that too or is battery pooched?
I hate buying John Deere parts, as they are so damn expensive. One thing I won't skimp on buying is buying John Deere agricultural batteries. Who ever makes Deeres batteries for them does it damn right. Most of my diesel equipment is John Deere. I replace they batteries on them about once every 10 years. They aren't dead after 10 years, but I can tell they are starting to get weak. Yeah, cheap batteries will leaving you sitting within a couple of years.I ordered a new voltage regular and will install. Don't think that'll fix my no-start issue but it can't hurt.
May drain the wallet for a new battery (after getting it tested). Damn things are expensive nowadays. Bought one for a Mazda last week for... $150+ One thing I don't like is cheap batteries so I normally stick to Deka.
I pulled the battery. Date is from 2021, volts are 12.8 so I figured that's not the problem.I've replaced both battery cables (the normal culprit). I'm going to make a new 2 gauge ground wire and put that in. The POS cable is new, OEM so it should be good. I'll test the battery at that time, replace if necessary.
I'm then going to do a thorough inspection of the wiring. Wondering if mice got at it. My headlights aren't working either.
If no-go after that, I'll do the voltage regular.
