Holes in the console? For lights and such. There are circuits up there for the lights. Several threads somewhere here on the subject. Look for something like 'auxiliary lights'.

Yep, I use the accelerator trick too. Just a tap, not enough to rev the engine at all. Also, don't forget about the brake pedal.
