Re: Recommendations on accessories

I got a flier for a polycarbonate one that sells for $335.

I wish someone could make a single piece plastic version, I don't like when there is a joint between two pieces right in the middle.

Polycarbonate requires an extensive process of drying and stuff to bend it. This may raise the cost beyond what most would want to pay.

I don't have any experience with the Essex windshield but it is listed as being plastic. Personally, I would not use a plastic material for a windshield. It's too suseptable to scratches, yellowing... Even with polycarbonate (Lexan), you really need the version that is coated with "mar-guard" to prevent scratching. The mar-guard version ov Lexan is significantly more expensive then the material without it.

Re: Recommendations on accessories

I agree. That's why I sucked it up and splurged forthe glass windshield and the soft cab. I've never seen an armored car following a hearse so I might as well spend it now.[H]

Re: Recommendations on accessories

Thats kinda my thoughts too on the aftermarket plastic stuff. The Kubota windshield is expensive, no doubt about it... but over the years the $200-300 cost savings is not going to be worth the scratches and yellowing.

Re: Recommendations on accessories

I too thought the Kubota OEM was a bit pricy so I made my own out of 3/16" Lexan (with mar-guard of course). The lexan (cut to size and shipped) was $150. All the hardware to mount and finish was probably another $40-50 so I was able to make my own for a little under $200. Might not be as pretty but works very well and I can quickly make it a split windshield (let some air in) or remove altogether in minutes.

I don't know if you've posted your picture of your RTV windshield but it's a pretty neat setup and I think some would like to see it. It's a good alternative to the factory windshield.
