New Kubota 1140 RTV!

Alright, I decided to sell my 2008 mule 3010 trans and get a new machine. I researched them all (including lurking this site) and decided on the Kubota. It just seems to be a well thought out and built machine. I'm having the dealer install a 2" lift (lots of rocks in my area), windshield and metal roof. I do have some questions for you guys.
It seems like the air intake is a problem with dust. I'm guessing it would be a good idea to go ahead and have them install the high rise kit. I haven't seen one installed and I'm wondering if the top of that is tucked up under the roof or if it sticks up above.
Hydraulic tools? Has anyone used the tools that are available for this machine? The t-post driver and pole saws would be very handy.
I also will need to install a stereo system in it. Any thoughts on this? I've seen a speaker bar for the front rail that looks pretty good but I'm wondering about a good placement for the stereo deck.
I also plan on using a sprayer mounted on the front. Any issues with the front suspension handling something like that?

Now the guys at the dealer told me about an aftermarket turbo charger that is made for these. I don't plan on doing that at all, but was just curious if anyone here has.
Thanks all!

CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR NEW MACHINE !! You will find some handy information In Doc's sticky at the beginning of the RTV forum page. I have a 2011 xt 900 and have pulled and operated a hydraulic weed wiper with it. I did install my own hydraulic cooler and had no problems with hot oil. ( the thread on this may be under the title of hydraulic oil cooler etc ) . The new location of the air filter- I think it's in front is much better so I'm not sure if you need the high rise. I haven't actually seen one though..
What kind of sprayer is this going in front?
With all of these features you mentioned, you may want to consider a switch panel. Look at the many homemade consoles members have made on here. I believe they are in the sticky previously mentioned.
Good Luck and keep us informed on what you decide. bordercollie

Congrats on the new machine.

I don't think you have to worry about the air cleaner, it has been moved on the new vehicles, so you should be good to go.

Just remember it is a new machine and you will have to get use to it. I just did my 50 hour on my 2014 X900, I also removed the bolt on the muffler and ran it for about 10 miles, even after only 50 hours, it seemed it made a difference.

Welcome to the forum and congrats on your new RTV!

bordercollie covered things.

On the hydraulic tools, I have not heard of many people getting them. As I recall, they're crazy expensive and somewhat restrictive in their capabilities. Basically, if you want to use your pole saw, you can only use it within hose length of the RTV. If you had a stand-alone tool, you can use it anywhere and use the RTV for doing other things. Kind of like a PTO driven log-splitter or generator for your tractor. When your splitting wood or need your generator running, you could probably use your tractor in a better fashion elsewhere instead of tied down to an implement.

Thanks ya'll. This one is a brand new 2013 model and I think the air intake is in the old position. I'll probably just leave it that way for now and see how it does. I plan on getting one of those baskets for the front receiver to carry a 30 gallon sprayer. It's a constant battle spraying mesquite and cedar on my place. I used to carry the sprayer in the bed of the mule which is fine except that's where all my other "stuff" is. I'll check out that sticky thread.

I doubt that I could carry a tank in front because of going in ditches at an angle here on the farm.... I might drag. I saw a spray rig elevated up high above the cargo bed- like even with the roof- that a hay grower uses.. I think his bed has just enough room to clear the base of it , when raised. I do have an aggravating time managing the ditches when I put the calf scale in the front receiver .. and it is at an angle. also sticks way out..Pictures on thread "calving time on the farm".
I just love my 2011 RTV 900 and it makes life must better for me.
Got to add that I agree with Zoom, I think it would be a problem for me to drag those hydraulic hoses around for a hydraulic saw etc.. They would never be long enough for me..... and then they would be in the way ....and the hydraulic Kubota equipment would be too expensive for me.

Would like to kick that around a bit more before you did it.
Not sure on the 2013's but the weight of that setup is probably triple the tongue weight capability of my old RTV. Hate to have something bending and twisting.

Google rtv front rack several companies sell them. Mount above the hood and I think have weight capacity in the 250-300lbs range

Congrats and welcome to Net RTV er I mean Net Tractor talk. Glad you found us. You are gonna love your new machine. :thumb:

That's what I use but don't see a 30 gallon sprayer sitting on it. You won't be able to see out your windshield.

A 30 gallon tank hanging off the front receiver seems heavy. I thought they were rated for 100# tongue weight.

I'd probably put the tank in the bed then run a hose to a boom in the front. Actually, I'd probably put the boom in the back so I didn't run the RTV through all the freshly sprayed chemicals.

For me, I have a horse stall mat in the bed cut down to size for situations like this. It not only helps quieten the rattles back there; but helps "stuff" not roll and move around.

For my 25 gallon spray rig, I put a couple of 2" X 4" X 30" or so "runners" with rubber feet attached to not only be able to pick up the sprayer easily but also to keep it from moving/sliding.

Above the driver seat is a switch console with switches for lights, wench, and 12V outputs. The switches are the kind with lights built into the switch itself so I KNOW that the thing is on. Back on the rear corner, I ran a couple of heavy duty 12V connectors for my sprayer, spreader, and other implements that use 12V from the back. My boom clamps to the tailgate and off I go..................So, I can spray with a wand as I drive or my boom spreads an 8' pattern behind me.........Works for me......I have a hard enough time getting through my woods without loading up the front with stick stoppers that just get in the way............God bless.....Dennis

Congrats on the new machine and a hardy welcome to the RTV Forum.

Most all here will agree the air filter inlet placed down low is a bad engineering design and is better relocated up high and away from the dust. Dealer installed or home built units work well. (See some fine examples in past posts.)

A tank mounted up front seems to offer some unwanted problems. Weight and visibility head those issues I think. And as BC said, going into/out of ditches could be a problem too.

I got a horse mat from Tractor Supply Co and cut to fit for the bed. Nothing slides around in it now.

Thanks all! Sounds like it might be better to keep the sprayer in the bed. I hope to pick up my new machine Monday or Tuesday. Can't wait! I sold the Mule today so I'm ready.
I happened to see this awesome looking led light bar made by http://www.nextechindustries.ca/nisr10.html
Pricey but looks really well made. I am a big fan of plenty of light around here, especially in the winter time. Anyone have advice on extra lighting?
I know I'm going a little crazy about all the extras and possibilities for the Kubota but dang I'm excited.

Hi everyone I'm new to here also just got me a 1140 last week. It is great. I havE been adding lots of stuff to it. I added the high air kit. I have a 4500 warn to install, I am waiting on the mount plate. I ordered a farmboy 3 point hitch. It came in but I havE yet to install it. I finished installing the hazard/turn signal kit the other day. Has anyone tried to install a transmission oil cooler instead of the one Kubota sells?

Check out superbrightled . I have been happy with the lights I got from them. Quite a bit cheaper also

Congratulations Norwoodj . I put in an oil cooler for the hydraulic part of my 900. (ordered from Amazon) It is a post entitled" Hydraulic cooler added "or something like that. I don't see why adding one to the transmission would be hard.
The 900 xt has a flimsy looking little aluminum grass and seed collecting oem one under the seat area. It is just waiting for a stick . (It is unprotected) It pulls air utilizing the engine fan so everything in the world you travel over will get sucked in.... It needs a better place.. collie

Thanks ya'll. Still haven't received my machine. dealer still waiting on the lift kit and windshield. Getting a little pissy here LOL! I can install that stuff myself so I might just go get it tomorrow anyway.

Clh73 your going to love your RTV I know I love mine. I saved some money and also put most of my accessories on am just about done. Here's the latest picture. I hope you get yours soon enjoy.
