Advice on type of snow blade to buy

We have a 2007 RTV900. We now live in rural mid-Missouri and have a flat driveway that is about 300 yds long. I need to buy a snow blade, but am not sure what type to buy. The deepest snow we have had here in the last 5 years is about 8 inches. What would be the best type of snow blade to buy: standard straight blade, country blade or a V-blade? In addition to the driveway we have parking areas in between some outbuildings that need to be cleared. Would appreciate any help and advice.

Welcome ftownphil,

Don't own a snow blade . But did eat a snow cone once !!!!

Just stepped in to say hello. Somebody who knows will soon pop in.
Wish I could help.
But anyway, if you need help with anything, just ask, someone will come up with something for you ....

After considering the opinions of many of our members, and like you, not normally having much more then a foot of snow at a time, I bought a Curtis 72' blade for My 900XT last year. Today was actually it's first real test with a solid 10 inchs or more, and it made me really happy. I plowed my750 foot plus of hillside drive, and having just too much fun went ahead and did the neighbors driveways on both sides (Long driveways) then I warmed up with a bowl of soup and did the main road down to where the county plows.
Thats about 5/8 of a mile. The best part is that even on 15 degree slopes the Grim Reapers did the job in two wheel drive without even a grunt. Used four wheel only one time while moving a three foot high drift at the main Road. Drive safe folks as it looks like is going to be a bad winter all over.~~~~~~KOBE

The Vplows that can scoop are nice around buildings where you need to remove and carry snow. For no more than you have a regular plow should do fine and are much lower in cost.

Thanks!

Thanks to everyone for the replies and advice. My budget will partly determine what I can get. For those of you who have a V blade, do all V blades adjust so that you can scoop, and do they still perform well when in the straight blade position?

Welcome to the forum!

Just throwing this out as a potential option. Do you have a tractor with a 3-point hitch or an ATV or some other vehicle that can accept a plow or blade?

We're really good on this forum for spending OPM (other peoples money ;) ). If you don't expect a lot of snow, a blade off the back of a tractor or an ATV plow is a much cheaper alternative.

I have a 72" blade on the back of my tractor and a 48-52" blade on my ATV. I took that route for snow removal since:
a) Both of those blades combined are still less expensive than a RTV blade.
b) It gives me a reason to drive those pieces of equipment to give them some usage. They get pretty sad when they see all my seat time going to the RTV so they appreciate it when I pull them out to do something constructive.

Also looking for a snow blade for my new 1120D ftownphil, curious to know what you decide. I'm leaning toward the Boss straight blade.

I also have a back blade like bczoom dose and a snow blower for my L3010 and love plowing snow with it but would like to get something for the RTV.

You do know the snow gods will look at you. They're watching....

pop58, primarily due to budget constraints, especially around the holidays, I purchased a 72" Eagle plow and the full setup including winch, mounts and push tube for just under $1000. I can't tell you how it performs since I am having trouble with the winch mount. I think they may have sent the wrong one. Waiting for a phone call from Eagle.
