Wow the price of 902 heads have dropped. I paid $900 for an eBay head, several years ago, without a head gasket. At that time head assemblies, listed on eBay in the $700 range, shipped directly from China.

The sold price seems about right for #2, but when adding 22% for sales tax and internet fee it seems high. But since it's a manual dump I would not consider it. I frequently use the hydro dump. Plus as Doc mentioned above...you have no clue how it was cared for and what repairs may be needed...

I had issues after replacing the head. Turned out to be the PCV mounted on the valve cover. Instead of cleaning and trying to adjust the spring I replaced it with a new OEM part. Ouch on the price. Sorry I cannot find the invoice but it was way more than a car PCV.

Apparently it does. My neighbor with this issue has the poly 5 gal fuel containers. I store fuel in the same type container, but have not experienced the bug. We purchase fuel from a different source.

I agree. My local Kubota dealer is the last resort. They are now charging shipping for parts that are not in stock. I received an over the counter quote for a battery, but when the battery arrived the price was 20% higher. Too bad, the price went up, it is what it is.

Did you have the battery load tested by an auto parts store? If you used a voltmeter was the battery voltage measured while trying to start? Sometimes battery voltage will test okay with no load.

My BX2350, with a similar engine to the RTV, is equipped with a digital engine Tach. A forum search mentions that the BX rpms are sensed from the alternator. Wonder if this could work...

These engines are durable BUT it seems like warped heads from overheating is common. My unit suffered this fate, didn't bother to compression check. When I pulled the head there was an obvious crack. The head was warped but the deck was flat. Complete OEM heads are available through ebay.

In addition to previous posts be careful when coasting down gravel roads with sharp turns. I have lost traction and ended up in a drainage ditch.
