yes it is free. Are you real sure you are talking about a x1140? by the 100 hr check in the manual the poppet valve is broke if it extends more than 21.5mm or about .850 inches. no way it will go to 1.5 inches.

no. there is a arm with sort of a round end that pushes on the shaft. It can be assessed from the rear of the rtv over the top of the rear protection cover on the passengers side. pg 61 in the owners manual, 100 hr check.

I used some clp on the shaft while my wife was depressing the pedal and the shaft came out some to show about 1/4 between the groove and the seal so maybe now it will shift better. I'm hoping the hst is ok if there was some bypass because the shaft was in a little amount.

well after cleaning it off which was not anything more than a dull discoloration, I found a thin groove machined in the shaft and I'm betting it is supposed to be moved in that amount when the brake is firmly depressed and also I'm thinking maybe the spring should be compressed some amount.

ok I will use some emory cloth and clean it up first. From what it looks like the arm won't move it .050 if it moves it any, course that was with my small wife pushing the brake pedal.
