Xenon Bulbs in Kubota RTV?

Has anyone upgraded the factory Kubota headlight bulbs to Xenon bulbs? I thought about doing this instead of mounting some aftermarket lights. I put a Xenon bulb in a bike that I once owned and it was amazing the difference between the halogen bulb and the Xenon bulb.

Not being familiar with that upgrade I can only say you should expect the same result as was experienced with the bike.

For me, if I added aftermarket lights it would be to gain a different vantage point as well as adding illumination.

I think you will struggle to find a Headlamp bulb to fit the socket. The bulb in my 06 is the same a side marker. Limits the bulbs you can use. You also need to consider the heat generated by the bulb. The nheadlamp housing may not be able to manage the heat, thus melting the lens or reflective material in the housing. And let's not forget the wiring. The amperage draw may be greater then the wire gauge. Again, melt down.

I bought a set for $25 and will let you know how it goes. They were 35watt a bulb, so they should be okay for amp draw and I'll have to make sure the heat isn't too hot to melt the plastic.

My used '06 900 came to me without bulbs or a switch. I found a pair of LEDs on eGag to fit the housings. I need to check but I remember the number as a 856 ??. I still do not have the wiring fixed right, it was cut off nearly smooth with the harness under the dash.

UPDATE: Just installed the Xenon bulbs and they work nice and look much better than the Halogen bulbs. I would guess the Xenon bulbs put out almost double the light output over the stock Halogen bulbs. I also bought a 9" flood Auxbeam LED light bar and it puts out way more light than the Xenon. When I tried the Auxbeam with the halogen bulbs you really couldn't even tell the halogen bulbs were working. I was really impressed with the Auxbeam light bar.

Great to hear!

Were the replacement Xenon bulbs a simple unplug and swap using the same socket and wiring harness?

Do you have a link to where you purchased them?

PLEASE CHECK THE HEAT

In the past years, there have been several reports of problems with the fixture that holds the bulb melting, and if I remember right actually smoking quite a bit on one. So, could you do a really GOOOOOD TEST of what is going on with the additional energy displacement from this type of bulb before some go out and follow your recommendation and then have problems..........

Where did you get these and are they a direct replacement????????...........THANKS.....God bless.....Dennis

I used them for about an hour without any heat issue, but that is a good idea to keep an eye on any issues from heat buildup causing anything to melt, but I don't think it should be an issue, since Xenon bulbs should run cooler than a comparable halogen from what I've read and these are 2.5 watt lower than the factory bulbs. If I would've had a temperature gun I would have checked, so we could gotten a comparison. These xenon bulbs were 35 watt as compared to the 37.5 watt halogen bulb. Yes, they were a direct fit from the factory bulb and all you did was remove your halogen bulb and put the xenon bulb in the socket and then hook the original bulb harness to the ballast that comes with xenon kit and finally hookup the final two wires. It took maybe 5 minutes to install the kit. I bought them on Ebay and they were like $21.00 for the full kit. The brand was Xentec and I got them for the 894 bulb that they replaced. The only downside to the xenon bulbs is they take about 5 to 10 seconds to warmup to their full brightness, so when you first turn on they'll be dim for about 2 seconds and then gradually warmup to full brightness in about 10 seconds. Also, I think I would've gone with 4300K vs the 5000k light temp. The lower the number the more actual light it will seem to produce. The higher the number the whiter the light will become.
