Whip lights for your RTV

Old Man mentioned in another thread that he rides in a caravan at Christmas time with lights to celebrate the season. We have some doing the same thing here in my neck of the woods.

Some had these 2' or 4' whip pole lights. Led, light up in all colors ..and look really cool.

Have you guys already seen these and considered them. Riding the trails on my property those lights would not last long. To many branches regularly get down into the trail area. They'd take those light right off if I forgot to fold them down.

I have those on my kids ATV. They eventually cracked and broke off at the base. But they gave me new ones for free, but haven't put the second set on yet to see if it was a freak thing or not?

I had them on my rzr. Mine had a quick connect mount so you could take off easily if needed( 4ft model ). Replaced rzr with General and haven’t put whips on it.

In their defense, I think it was starting to get colder out when mine broke. I haven't put the new ones on yet to try them.

I'm just waiting because after Polaris and my dealer both let me down on my new one, I'm trading three Polaris's in on a new RTV.
Now I just can't decide between the diesel 1100 cab workhorse, or the more trail friendly XG850.

Scratch that question I looked through your old post about the power steering debacle.... who has ever heard of a deductible on warranty!?

With mine? I bought a new Sportsman 570 and the side panel plastic doesn't fit or stay in place on them. So they got me all new plastic. Still the same.
Couldn't move the shifter and it was losing coolant. I paid $90 for PDI. Brought it back and they found a bad water pump housing and the clutches out of alignment (after the $90 PDI)
Now it's losing coolant again. After the first three hours the exhaust system looks like it's rotted right off. The Lock and Ride windshield cracked around all the mounting bolts. They said no warranty and it is common.
They put the cheapest tires they can find on them now. Got 100 miles on it and the tires are almost bald.
And I had to bring it in for the heat and melting plastic recall....where they now completely enclosed the engine with extra side panels, LOL.
And the new Polaris built fuel injected motors do not start in the cold.
My 04.5 is awesome. The 09 not as good but still relatively problem free. The new one....cheap junk. And new dealer owner that also owns the Ford dealers in town that was the cause of me to quit buying Ford's after a lifetime of them.
So I'll stick to my Kubota dealer now that treats me like gold.

Well my whole plan with the RTV is this:

I don't want a cabbed tractor. And for the most part I don't mind blowing in the cold all winter. But there is the days where you have to plow or blow and it is minus 40 degrees which still doesn't bother me.....but when you add in high wind, that sucks.

So I want something with a cab that I can plow with on the bad days. And the dump box would go nicely with my tractor for patching my bush roads or hauling firewood.
So the diesel is the ultimate workhorse that can trail ride.
But now with this new 850, it would be a better trail riding machine that still has a powered dump box that I can put a cab on......and I still have the tractor to do the heavier work.

ITBmine, For what its worth, I would generally avoid the first version of anything. I would love to drive the XG850 but I would consider letting them work the bugs out before buying one.

Our place has very hilly terrain and steep grades. I love the way the speed control works on the RTVX. I don't have to worry about my Wife or kids getting into trouble. Its not fast but if have to get work done, you won't find a better friend. I've skidded sycamores the size of phone poles off our hill and it never gets tired.

Continuing with my humble opinion, if speed is figuring large into your decision, I'd recommend test riding the Honda Pioneer 1000. They've worked most of the bugs out, its fast and reliable. No belts, direct gear drive. I know some folks say belts are no big deal but I watched my neighbor roast a belt pulling a small trailer of firewood up a hill on our place. It weighed maybe 800lb. Fortunately, he had an extra belt and tools.

I don't think you can go wrong with either Kubota product. Hope this helps.

Oh one more thing....it was so brutally cold in Ohio earlier this month, we had to suspend our field work for the first time ever. It was just tool cold for my Wife and I to more from place to place with no heat. The X-1100 would have added weeks of work time for us. Guess what I am saving for?

I like the Pioneer 4 too. I love the way they did the rear seat that folds out of the box. And it's shorter length compared to every other 4 seat UTV.
