Want a new work UTV; who and what should I look for?

I want to ditch my Kubota RTV-XG850 and it's moronic twitchy throttle design flaw, get rid of the problematic engine and the 40 mph purposely throttled speed.

So far, I'm looking at the Honda Pioneer 1000 and the Polaris Ranger 1000, both of which have 1000-1500 lb payload bed capacity.

What other makes and models should I be looking at?

Thanks for the help!

I own a Honda Pioneer 1000. Dependable solid machine. Downside: I bought the 5 seat version. the roof and super structure get in the way for working out of the bed when seats are folded down. I rarely haul more than 3 people and 3 fit easily in the front seat. Other downside is dust. It comes up thru the bed where the seats fold down. A 3 seater does not have that issue and you can get solid doors for the 3 seater and seal it up if you want.

I considered a Polaris 1000. It is faster and zippier off the line. But it is belt driven. That, and experience with Honda reliability ATV's I've owned helped me decide on Honda.

Bordercollie bought a Roxar and it seems like a workhorse from what I've read on it.

Well I test drove a Honda Pioneer 1000 the other day. Pretty nice machine, but:

- Throttle was every bit as twitchy as the XG. :( The salesman said "you get used to it...." Yea, I've heard that before.

- Bed was smaller, not rectangle and made of plastic. There goes installing a bed rack or gas can mounts.

I think I'm gonna pass on it. Any others? Kawasaki, Yamaha - any others?

All the side by side beds I've seen are plastic except for the RTV.
I agree with the salesman. Throttle on the Pioneer 1000 is 'twitchy' but with experience you control that easier so you do get used to it. At least I have.

If top speed is not super important, maybe try one of the RTV X models. Throttle is very smooth and once you get used to it, braking is smooth too. It is a work machine and about 10mph slower than the 850.

Don't be afraid to look at CF Moto. They're Chinese, but not junk. And they come fully loaded with everything for thousands less. And have a 5 year warranty. I just got my second one. I like them far better than my Polaris's.
The U-Force model is the one you will want to look at for work to replace an RTV.. I have a few friends that own them.
