RTV UTV Roll Cage Organizer

Just wanted to highlight a product I just bought to use on my 2010 RTV 900. As you know there is a lack of storage space in the cab of these units. We are planning to do some "Four Wheeling" this year and needed a place to stow items. I found this QuadBoss UTV Roll Cage Organizer on Ebay for $45.69 including shipping. I mounted it yesterday to the roll bar above the seat just under the roof. I got the black one, it's made of a waterproof 600x600 denier polyester material. I liked it so well that I ordered another one to mount either right on top of the dashboard next to the windshield or up high on the roll bar next to the windshield.

We plan to trailer the RTV over to WindRock Park near Oak Ridge, Tn (just above Knoxville) for several day trips to ride through the mountains. They have about 300 miles of trails although not all for Jeep size vehicles. Unfortunately, ATV trails near us in WNC have a 50 inch wide limit, so we'll have to drive 2+ hours to reach WindRock. I'll mount two Chevy truck buckets seats with self contained seat/shoulder belts in the bed and let our 10 year old g-daughter and a friend ride in the back, although she wants me to let her drive some on some of the easy roads.

Looks like a good idea with the rollbar organizer. These RTV,s are a little short on places to store "stufff." Sounds like you are planning an interesting trip to Windrock with the RTV and the family. Guess you will bolt those truck seats to the bed somehow to keep it secure and if the younguns start to get a little rowdy, well, you know where the dump lever is... LOL. Now, as to the purpose of the 2x4?

We hope to see some photos of this expedition ya know.....

Let us know what you think of the organizer once you return. I'm wondering a) if it hits you in the back of the head and b) how's the visibility looking to the rear (although that may be hard with the seats there).

I never put seats in but found that a piece of indoor/outdoor carpet covering the bed then put some outdoor lounge chair seat cushions in there worked well for the youngins. It kept them low in the bed so they had side rail protection and they were plenty comfortable. We never went anyplace like windrock with that setup. It was for puttering around the yard.

I've got one of those 1/2" thick rubber stall mats in the bed and I've got holes drilled through the bed. I attach the bucket seats with some grade 5- 3/8" bolts with washers and nuts on the underside of the bed in a position where they'll slide and recline a little. That 1x4 is just to hold up the UTV cover to keep water pooling in the bed area when I store it. As far as rowdy kids, one little tap of the hydraulic bed lever and they'll calm down.

The roll cage organizer is mounted tightly up to the roof and roll bar above the seat and it only comes down about 7-8 inches. Will not touch my head or interfere with visibility out the back.

Hopefully next week, which is spring break for the schools here, the weather is nice so we can go to WindRock. The Parts manager at our local Kubota dealer has taken his RTV 900 over there with his family and said he went everywhere his kids went on ATV's, if it was wide enough. He said his wife got some white knuckles a few times. I'll post some pictures if we make it back safely.
 
Thanks for the answers on the organizer questions I had.

Weather looks great for next week in that area. A few showers towards the end of the week but temps look perfect (70ish days, 50ish at night).
 
OK TWO GUNS, You need to get a picture of a bigger gator because Texas has shown you up. Here is the caption under the picture:

Tribute, hope you enjoy windrock. Been there a few times but never with the rtv. Only with atvs and rzrs. Be careful, I would stay off the difficult trails marked on the map available where you get your permit. Royal blue is much more suited for the rtv in my opinion. Royal blue rangers will usually guide you for free if you contact them. They also have access to private land in the area to ride with them. Hope you and your family have great trip
