In previous a thread it was mentioned to remove the plastic portion of the seat to access it. It seems to me a much better way to access it would be to remove the skid plate and work from the bottom. Any opinions would be great. Got to do the job as soon as my pump comes in.

Thanks for letting us know. :thumb:
Now to finish the job. Discovered a cracked cylinder head. Got it tore down and just need to get online and order a head. Any advice on installation appreciated. The replacement heads I am looking at are aluminum verses the original is cast iron. Any opinions? I have located it in cast or aluminum for about the same price.

Stay with cast original design, dissimilar metals can be a problem when not designed as such.

Purchased a complete head assembly, ready to bolt on, from a dealer on eBay. It was OEM and the lowest price that I could find at the time.
I assume it was cast iron, aluminum was not an option several years ago. Replaced the head bolts as well.

Confirm the thermostat housing is not cracked, it's a PITA to change with the water pump installed.

Thanks for your input. After read a few other threads I did check that housing. It was all good.

Head came in today [cast iron like original] . Replacing the head went well and cranked right up after bleeding at injectors. Let it run 30 min. Going to let sit over night and recheck head bolts and valve settings.
