Ityped in receiver adapter and got about 50 results. they saythese extensions or reducers reduce your ratedhitch capacity by half,,Might be something to keep in mind.!</P>
 
That's some fair prices on them extensions & reducers !!!</P>

You can pick up a 12" drawbar with the desired drop at most car parts stores or large department store. On that, you could weld a steel plate (and something for traction). As noted by mrbass, sticking out that far will greatly reduce your tongue weight capacity so don't let people jump on it. Since you're looking for a large drop (and given the 12" length), I doubt it could be used for a trailer anyway.

Have you considered a tire step? There's several on e-bay. Look at e-bay item <span class="ebay"> 330211988850 as an example. Once the passengers are loaded, the driver slides it off.</span>

I used the tire when I am getting in and out of the bed. My 20 month old daughter is lifted in and out of the bed and older children just climb in. It works well.
