Questions from the new guy

So, in an other thread, I posted about trying to help out a farmer in my town with his rtv 900.
Had some success, however, I have a couple of questions.
1 . Is there a difference between the 900 and 1100?
2. When I search for parts, sites will ask about the model. I see designation codes (W, G, R, etc) I have no clue what that means.
3. Is there a way to decipher the part number? Some numbers have k then a number, also a 2 digit number dropped in the middle of the thing.
4. Is it a secret society that I'm not allowed to join?to get these parts counter people to explain their parts diagrams is crazy.
I'm finding out that Kubota has a problem with me wanting to repair orange things...

Yes. The 900 is an open-cab model with the D902 engine. The 1100 is a cabbed version with a slightly larger D905 engine.

There are different "models" per se. Think of options or trim levels on a vehicle.
I don't recall all the differences between each but here's a couple.
W=Worksite model. Big thing that comes to mind is it has the hydraulic tilt bed.
G=General purpose. Doesn't have the hydraulic tilt bed (it's manual). It has an extra pair of hydraulics out the back to run implements.
R=Recreational. I "think" it has the hyd tilt bed. Main thing is this one is camo instead of orange.

For 3 & 4, I don't recall there being a naming convention for the part numbers. Do you have examples?

The local K dealer counter people have no clue.

Best to contact Messicks technical support, the best source for info IMO.

One thing to keep in mind is that Kubota introduced the X-series in about 2014. There is the Kubota RTV-900 prior to 2014 and then the RTV -X900. They are slightly different in many ways. The 1100 series are the full cab model and the same thing there with the introduction of the X-1100.

I'm not sure what you mean by getting the counter people to explain their parts diagram but if you go to messicks website and make an account, it will ask you your machine and serial number, from there you can see the whole parts diagrams. You can do this at the kubotausa site too but the site is so slow that it will test your patience.

The problem isn’t with the Kubota Parts People…the problem is you don’t appear to know enough about your vehicle…to enable them to locate the parts you think you want. They have to know your year, model and serial number…and you don’t yet even know what model you have.
Be patient, ask questions here (as you are doing)… Learn your vehicle…and Then you can ask them for what you want intelligently.

the 900 and the 1100 share some parts etc but are completely different machines, also the 900 and the 1100 are not in any way near the same as the x900 and x1100c. the W stands for the worksite model and the others G,R etc escape me at the moment. most of those letters would refer to how the factory accessorized the machine, worksite tires vs knobby tires ,cammo or orange etc. the basic machine mechanically would be the same though. messicks has a real nice online parts book that you can enter your serial and model numbers and look up your own parts. the schematics are handy too. what is the problem with your friends machine?
