So, I am a retired import auto mechanic, and it is my first rodeo in Kubota 900 diesel repair. Back in the day we would pickle a transmission in Kerosene for about a week drain it out and replace the filters and fluid if we found water in the transmission. What is your take on this procedure and/or is there a better method with this UTV?

Sounds like a good approach. I think I would try to blow warm air through it for 24 hours or so. Remove filters, drain plugs and filler port and let the warm air try to evaporate residual water before refilling with Super UDT2. Good luck.

Thanks for the reply, you put a thought in my mind that I might use a heat lamp or small electric heater under the drained transmission.

So, speaking about transmissions. Have any of you found a good price from online for buying the filters and fluid?
I have used Coleman's and Messicks with mail orders and our local dealer when I need to purchase 5 gallon pails of UDT2. Shipping charges on the Super UDT2 make it very expensive so I stop by the dealer if I am in the area. Messicks shipping charges are a bit high, but their service is wonderful and fast. They sell filter packages which can make it even easier to order. NAPA and others do have "equivalent" filters if you need some in a pinch, but I usually order two sets of filters at once so I am always one set ahead and I save some on shipping charges.

Purchased my filters from Messick's and fluid at the local dealer. Lowest cost over all. Messick's is great for parts and fast delivery.

Messicks is a fantastic resource for All Things Kubota. The only issue is freight can be bothersome to those of us who are “cheap” and willing to admit it. But the poor quality of some substitute parts will make “freight”…. Cheap insurance.
Kubota filters are only a couple bucks more than even the cheapest aftermarket filters…making them well-worth the price and trouble, IMO.
I buy them from the local dealer when possible.

don't use kerosene. just change the fluid with kubota super udt. let it drip for a long time before you replace the oil and change it again before you run it very long.
Thanks. I was leaning in that direction; I just needed some additional input on the procedure. As I said I was an import mechanic for over 50 years and no real experience with hydrostatic transmissions.
