a loooong time ago i had a Mercedes diesel car that the oil filter was a canister type but was on top of the engine and would drain back after a few min. all you had to do was take off the cover and pull out the paper element and drop in the new one. but the air cleaner was an oil bath so, well there ya go!!!!

Ever try an oil change on a Ford Eco Boost? First time I've had to look for instructions on an oil change, the drain is on the side of the block. Even better design than the built in funnel on the Rams...

I serviced my RTV and BX using the extractor. It worked great for the oil changes and ok for the tranny. I was only able to get about half the fluid from the transmission with it. There are things in there that prevent getting all the way to the bottom of the tank.
