Hello from the great frozen north. I pulled the trigger on a 2010 1100 with the Kubota Commercial Straight Blade. This unit had 200 hrs on it and is loaded! Can't think of a thing to add to it, frustrating as I'm a bit or a farkle hound.
I've been enjoying the informative posts in this impressive community here.
Let me introduce myself, I've just retired from a big Canadian city, Calgary Alberta, where I enjoyed a rather pressured 30 year career, and moved back to Tomahawk, Alberta where we have 160 acres overlooking a large valley. We keep a few animals and needed the RTV to keep our 1/4 mile driveway clear in the winter and maintain the rest of the property in the summer. Oh, and it's darn fun year around.

I also have a new, 2010 John Deere 313 skid steer, 118 hours now, that I used to excavate and landscape our property and new home that we are almost finished building.

I look forward to sharing and learning on this site and getting to know some fellow Kubotiets(?!)

Hi cpsseals! Welcome to Net Tractor Talk. :tiphat: I'm glad you found us. :thumb:

Congrats on your new RTV and your new life. Sounds awesome for sure. Like Muley said, we'd love to see some pics of your RTV, John Deere and your property if you don't mind sharing.

Enjoy and post often. :thumb: :D

LOL,,,yea,,i told my wife that "driveway lie" too. I guess since you are up north you could be telling the truth!

I also cleared my own land for our new house, and dug the basement with my equip. It's great fun! I now own a dozer, 2 bobcats, and 2 tractors. I sold the trackhoe, as there was no lie to use that justified keeping it after the basement was done. LOL,,, made money on it anyway, and haven't missed it yet,,just hard for me to sell equip that i "might need" someday.

Thanks for the welcome bczoom. Here are some pictures Muleman and Doc. And razerface, you know me already. Trying to attach a few pictures... If this works, the first is a picture of our building site. We took the old house down and built the new home on this site. The first picture is where we built the new home. We took the old house down by hand and are still using the lumber saved from it. The second is an example of some of the flooring and stone work we did and the JD 313 was the day it was delivered. I've got 5 new attachments for it now and it's running steel OTW tracks now.

These are a few of the animals that own us... Muleman might like a couple of them... The moose is just one of the many that stay on our property. He gets very close, almost able to hand feed him. He's jumping the fence into our front yard when we were standing there with the camera.

cpsseals;
Love the pictures... especially the security dog and the moose ! Beautiful landscape and friends to share. I never heard of a straight blade on a RTV. You must post a picture of it. I am sure others are curious also. You are very lucky to find a used 1100. I looked for what seems years and was just about to buy a 900 with an aftermarket cab when I found mine. The 900 sold the day after I viewed it so they don't hang around long.
The switch from city to rural living is a great transition. Best of luck and enjoy retirement.

Thanks agent blue, the straight blade, Commercial Straight Blade (V4290) as opposed to big K's v-blade.
It's nice to return home after serving a big city. Life is good. I feel lucky to find this beast. The fellow who I bought it from spent just under $30,000.00 equipping it for fire fighting in the oil and gas industry. Always in a heated shop and never seen a fire. He thought it was to expensive for just clearing his driveway

Correction, I think it's just a dog, Lucky, and a guard Moose

Welcome to the group...Thought for a second that your JD313 was auditioning for the Disco ball that Doc and Muleman reserve for pretty machines until I read the pic was taken when it was delivered new
..

Wanna trade some moose chops for a little venison and a couple of turkeys:yum:

Nice picture Kanook! The in-laws are from Oakville (originally from Virgina) and she has family in Port Severn, Ont. Are you anywhere close?

Can't shoot these moose, they trust us to much... Buggers!

cpsseals:

Welcome to the forum. I was a RTV wannabe until a short time ago when I purchased a 1100.
While I haven't done any customizing of my machine yet, I plan on using alot of the ideas I have learned from other members. Really appreciate the pictures you have shared here. Looks like you have the equipment and now the time to tackle your many projects.

Keifer

Thanks Keifer.

Still building the attached 30 x 30 garage, but that should be done by spring (if I don't cut anymore fingers off) then I'll have a nice heated welding shop to modify and fabricate to my hearts content. The only problem with the 1100 I can see is that they come so complete from the factory.
Now I've got to head outside and work. It's warmed up to -18 from -21! A heat wave Tomahawk style.

Um, well, two months ago I was doing the cement work for the garage and my lovely and smart wife had to head into town. She directed me to take some breaks and to have lunch. Around 2 pm I transitioned from cement finisher to finishing carpenter. Skipping lunch and any breaks from 6:30 am I went into the barn to trim some MDF to size on the joint planer... Yup, tired and stupid I found out why they are called joint planers... to the first joint on the left index finger.
My wife met me at the small hospital in a town 40 minutes away and played to roll of nurse during the 45 minute operation cause they didn't have enough help that day. Some lady I have!
I went for a haircut the other day and the gal asked how I lost my finger, I told her by not listening to my wifes advice. A gal in the waiting room heard this and laughed so hard she pushed out a snot bubble. She cried out "That's the best answer I've ever heard!"

Don't think I'll post those pictures

In an effort to avoid being awarded a disco ball, here is a more recent photo of the skid steer. Testing the backhoe attachment after doing some modifications to it. The snow pile is 3 to 4 times Bigger now!

That sucks. Never lost a finger but have made mistakes doing tired and stupid. I also found that you shouldn't have some beers while cleaning the shop. Everything you put away "made sense at the time" but you'll never find half your stuff again.

I could see the ladies laughing at that reply.

Oh, and pictures??!?!? You have pictures??? Let me see if I got this right. You cut off your finger (while alone), had to field dress it yourself, call the Mrs., drive to the hospital and somewhere in there you thought it might be a good idea to take pictures? Did you tidy up the shop before leaving as well? :)

Well, ya, Mary is very good at documentation. She does most of the on land photography and I do the underwater photography. We have our well defined roles.

And Mary cleaned the shop the following day before the mice developed a taste...

A little west of the Nations Capital....No disco ball for the JD, it is obviously a workin' machin'.....That 1100 sure looks pretty however.
