I took delivery of my new RTV-X1100C with snowblower and rotary broom yesterday. Awesome machine. I'm glad I found this forum. Seems like a ton of great people and information.

I installed an aftermarket radio and it works great.

That is the only add-on I have made so far. I say that because it may be relevant to my question.

I hooked up the rotary broom and made a few passes down our road today. While using the PTO and driving, it suddenly stopped and the engine turned off. I turned off the PTO, put it in neutral, and then I started it again. Thought it was a bit weird. I continued on with the PTO engaged and about 500 feet down the road it happened again. Just turned off. I tried to restart and it seems like the battery is dead and the starter isn't turning over the engine. I do have power when turned to the aux position but not enough to start it. Does this sound like just a dead battery? Maybe from the radio? Would the engine just stop while running because the battery is low/dead?

I did manage to jump start the RTV after about an hour of sitting (was busy eating dinner). I left it run hoping it would charge the battery a bit. It ran for about 5 minutes and then turned off again.

I have it on the charger overnight to see if that was the issue but maybe there is something else that someone has had a similar experience with that they can share. I appreciate the help and happy to part of the community.

I think I can see low voltage turning off the fuel to your engine. I would get a meter and check the voltage across your battery running and shut down. A fully charged battery will show about 12.5 or 12.6 volts. Running you should see at least a volt higher than that if it is charging.

Do you have a way to check the battery with a load test? Some parts stores do that for free. (Be sure it's charged before you take it to save time) . Also see if the alternator belt is tight enough.

Thanks for the help so far. I had the charger on all night. 12.6V at the battery. It started fine, was seeing 13.5V at the battery running. But then after about two minutes, it quit again. I fiddled with it for about a half hour. It started maybe two more times but would quit after a few seconds. Then it sounds like the starter is working very hard and grinding. The fuel filter is full and looks clean. I removed the fuel cap and the air cleaner. Nothing seems to help. Im going to call the dealer first this tomorrow for some more help.

I'd start by removing the power cord/fuse or something on the stereo to completely isolate it from the RTV. It's a new machine and should work flawlessly. The stereo is a new variable that should be removed for testing.

You could disconnect the negative terminal ,hook your ohm meter up between the bat and disconnected wire to see if there is anything still pulling a draw, Start pulling fuses till you see the load disappear. And that would be your phantom.

I did remove the radio this morning. I took the same path as you suggested seeing as though that was the only change since working properly from dealer.
I am going to try and start it again soon and I’ll record the sound from starting to quitting so see if that tells anyone anything.

Thanks again crew!

I was able to take a video of me trying to get the RTV started. No luck this time on starting but here's the video and audio if it helps anyone. I'm hoping it's something obvious.

I basically bought the same machine you did. If I was having a problem like that I wouldn't even hesitate, call the dealer up tell them to come and pick it up. If you keep messing with it they might blame you for the problem. It is under warranty that's what they're for.

Indeed Call that Dealer ! That sounds hurts my teeth

The dealer got to the bottom of it. There is a gearbox and clutch for the mid-pto. It wasn't put together properly from the dealership and it broke prematurely causing it not to start. There is some pto safety switch in there also that caused starting issues that was damaged as well. Dealership was awesome though. They came and got it and I'll have it back Monday. I really appreciate the help of this board. Merry Christmas everyone!
