My 2017 kubota 1140 RTV will max out speed at 12 mph.

I recently purchased a used 2017 Kubota RTV 1140 that is having issues with the transmission, the Kubota dealer inspected it and said it may need a new transmission. Well, anyway, the RTV will currently move at around 12mph max and is supposed to be around 22 to 24 mph. It backs up and goes forward properly in all gears 2x4 n 4x4. Apparently due to the inability of it to achieve maximum speed, the dealership has diagnosed the issue as it needs to be replaced at 9k, yes, 9k$. Uggh. I need some help if possible. Do I need to rebuild or adjust this transmission or just change the oil or sensors or whatever, I’m certainly open. Any options or opinions would be most appreciated. Ronald

Get a WSM for your model. They provide some pretty good instructions and pictures of your transmission. They don't cost 9K. Pull your tranny and disassemble it on a clean work bench. Chances are, you will find what the issue is and the repair will still be thousands of dollars cheaper than 9K. It would be interesting hear how your dealer came to the conclusion that the trans needed to be replaced at the tune of 9K without ever opening it up? Dealerships didn't get the nickname Stealerships without just cause.....

Maybe Aurthuritis will see this . He is good with those machines too. Before hiring the dealer, I'd consider seeing what a new transmission cost to order. Beware though of those that may have been flooded or that are seconds and buy from a reputable source- if you go that way. Or take a look inside it if you are handy with equipment, you could save big bucks that way.

Really appreciate your insight. These rigs are a new challenge to educate on for myself and even my mechanic buddies.

I live just South of Dallas Tx, was wondering if there is anyone reputable in this area that can take a look at it or if there is someone via phone to reach out to that could help me with rebuilding this unit. If needed, I could even remove it and perhaps ship the tranny to someone to rebuild if needed.

Thank you, I’ve never added fluids to the tranny, the engine filter n oil were replaced recently with Kubota products. That sound's like a great start for the dealer to do or recommend before they suggest I need a new transmission. I will certainly pass that along to the dealer.
