Leaking tires

After asking every Kubota dealer around i have come up with a whole set of take off tires and rims for my 900, they are the worksite type and i think they will work for me, and i also got a used 75 % rear set of the atv type that i thought would be a good idea to have to switch aroiund with since i got them at a good price and i have some tread left on my old atv type tires, now i'am really tire poor, the atv tires had some mud and some STUFF on the sidewalls so i tried to wash them off and when i aired them up i got bubbles all around the rims both sides so i broke the beads and cleaned and got NAPAas tire sealer but still got leaks so i think the STUFF on the sidewalls is some type of sealer someone put in and now it is causing me problems, might not been such a good deal after all. I will take them all the way off the rims and see what kind of mess i got and if all else fails i guess tubes will fix it. Has anyone put tubes in RTV tires?

I put tubes in my ATV tires with good success. I have lots of multiflora and hawthorn trees that have the inch long needles. I used Green Slime for a few years, and then progressed on to tubes. The tubes seem to be the best most permanent solution for me.

I would certainly give the Slime a try. It's worked for me for years. It loves sealing up leaky tires like that.

Yep, I vote for slime >>>
Buy it by the Gallon

Purchased four Gallons for Eight tires, that comes up to 1/2 gallon per tire.

OEM Kubtoa atv's tires for the summer months, ITP 589's for winter months.

Have not walked home YET !!!!

I've got a 400' hedgerow full of those nasty briars. Now's the time to get the chainsaw going.

I had one of those big thorns puncture the sidewall on one of my rear 589's. I use slime too but this was a really big tear so I put a plug in it ,It was still leaking so added a little more slime and it stopped right up. I know plugs don't belong in a sidewall but necessity prompted me to try it since this is a low speed machine. I keep a plugger and the wads handy for emergencies........ I have found the easiest way to get rid of those thorn trees is to use a bucket with a tooth bar and push about 6" to a foot above the ground on the trunk and once it leans over a little , reposition the bucket so that a tooth of the bucket is diagonal with the base and push down and forward.Usually, the tooth will go into the root and as you go forward slowly lift up and presto the roots and all will just come right up so then will not re sprout. Since many know I like song birds, I check for their nests and then if clear take the thorn trees out wherever I can . Bordercollie
