I've been reading this forum for a few weeks and decided to join. I have the kimpex commander series tracks and just love them. I'll send pictures later of last year's record breaking snowfall in Northern Maine. I have a 6000 lb. winch in the front and a 10,000 lb. winch in the rear. I went through two 3000 lb. micky mouse winches that are useless on this machine that weighs much more than other utility vehicles. I purchased these winches on e-bay at incredible prices with no regrets.

I'm hoping to relocate the air cleaner some time soon. What were they thinking?? I'm also hoping to fix the annoying rattle from the driveshaft using the advice from this forum. I have the full cab with overhead console. I installed my own aftermarket heater from J.C Whitney. I have a similar one on my 1940 hotrod and it works fine. I can runa shop vacvacuum hose from one of the vents to the top of the windshield as a defroster. I actually enjoy my rtv more during winter than the summer months. Talk to you guys later! Phil

I'm also a recent joiner of the group. I am from Buckfield, Maine, just north of Auburn. I have a worksite model that we use around home for chores. I have been thinking of tracks for the machine but hadn't decided which way to go. Where did you get you Kimpex tracks? How expensive and have you had any issues with them? How many hours on them? Thanks Mike

Hi Mike! I bought my tracks last year and paid $5700. shipping included. That's actually cheap compared to $7000-$7400 elsewhere. I tried to find the website or my sales receipt but can't find either one. They are made in Quebec and quite expensive but they are like a buldozer in the snow with those big aggressive paddles. I prefer breaking trail to trail riding with them. The more snow, the smoother the ride is. They do vibrate a bit on hard packed trails. Top speed is 18-20 mph on a flat surface. Average speed is 15mph. Nice to hear from someone in Maine. I'm from St. Agatha which is in Northern Maine near the Canadian border. Snowmobiling and 4-wheeling is big business in this area where we have hundreds of miles of well maintained trails. There has been an increase in utv sales this summer. Curious to see if I'll be meeting some of them on tracks in the snowmobile trails this winter. Talk to you later! Phil

Hi Phil. A freind that works with me is from just up the road in Frenchville and his wife is from St. Agatha... small world. His father is Frank Martin, maybe you know him. I've heard a lot about the riding up there. The RTV may be a little wide for most of the trails down this way. I'm looking to use it a little for ice fishing and maybe some sapping in the spring. Probably a bit of riding the grandkids around the yard too. :-) Do you remember which model? I went to the website and there are a few different ones. Thanks Mike

Frank Martin happens to be my snowmobile riding partner. Must be Shawn that you're talking about. His wife's parents actually live four houses down the road from where I live. Small world for sure. The series I purchased are the commander k-series made especially for heavy machines like the rtv. I used to tell everyone that they go everywhere but now claim they go almost everywhere after I went through the ice in a bog last winter. Long story but that's one of the reasons I have a winch in the rear as well as the front. Had I had a rear winch in this situation, it would have been an easy out since there was a tree in the rear and none up front. Best advice is to check out the area in the summer or fall so you know what's under the snow you're riding on in the winter. Lesson learned. No regrets at all in the purchase. Like I mentioned earlier, I enjoy it best in the winter months. Later Phil
