Implement hook up time

I've been wondering how long does it take for us to hook up our implements? A couple of minutes for a box blade, 5 minutes for a rototiller, 15 minutes for a backhoe? Maybe say what implement and what size that you have. I have a lot of implements myself, but the type that I love to hear about are 3pt PHDs. You usually hear how awkward and a pain in the butt they are to hook up. All I know is that it takes me around 5 minutes to have mine hooked up and ready to use.

Easy to see why a stand like that :respect:, would take the "fighting" out of hooking up my PHD.

I've added a stand like yours to my project list. I'm assuming the top piece is easily removable.

I dont hook mine up very often, but I was thinking of welding a ring on the top of the arch so I could hang it from a chain.

Maybe next year....

Hey, I like your Candain army surplus storage sheds....or is that your duck blind?

Hook up the PHD, lift the 3ph, remove 4x4. Easy, easy, easy, and less than $15 for wood and brackets.

Pat's Easy Change made things much easier. It used to take at least 20 swear words for the heavier implements and now I'm down to only 2-3 curses on most days. Every once in a while there are bad days where I can't align stuff for some strange reason. Then the curse count goes up.

I got rid of my PHD as it was too much hassle to hook up and I just don't have that many holes to dig. I think Big Al has a good idea - he just drills a hole in the ground for the auger and drops it into the hole when he's not using it letting the rest of the unit stay propped up ready for hook up. I guess it depends on how wet your ground is but I thought it was a good idea.

;)

I'll 2nd Pat's Easy Change System. I've had mine over 2 years now and my back thanks me for it. Like PB, far fewer swear words at hook up time. :thumb:

I am really afraid of timing how long it takes to put my PHD on. It takes a while, but I get faster each time. The augers are stuck in the ground in the barn and the motor is in my old workshop. I take off the thumb and bucket, then stick the backhoe dipperstick into the shop and hook up the motor, then hook up the quick disconnect lines, then got fetch the augers.:pat: But it is sweet running that PHD.

Brandi, I hope that you never need just 1 hole. It might be faster to dig it by hand. You sure do have a nice setup though.

Brian,
I have one hole to dig inside the barn through hard packed clay for a walk through door post.:pat: I will proberly use the Hyd. PHD to give it exercise and also the reason I first wanted a hyd. unit...............I had elbow surgery last spring:eek: and I didn't like the PTO version's design angles going deep. Not as young as I used to be. Gotta take it easy at home to make the big bucks at work.:thumb:

Brandi, I'll agree with you for your said reasons. One other thing, of all the people that I have talked to so far in my lifetime, not one of us has ever gotten younger, so your not alone.:tiphat:
