I have recently acquired a MF 250 and it is now cold weather here in NS. It doesnt want to start in the cold weather . Question is ...it doesnt seem to have a " heat start" position on the key as i have seen in some models. Is there glowplugs in this model , or a block heater of some

If not what should one do . Is there a heater or something i could get to install to pre heat things ? Any help is appreciated. Thanks

There's a few different ways to go about it.

There's aftermarket glow plugs with a spade terminal to connect for heating. I've never tried these but here's an example of what I'm referring to.

Another option is to go with a block heater by replacing a block freeze plug with a heater element. There's mention of it in this thread. Most of these require A/C electrical source.

Block heaters
The easiest option IMHO is to go with a magnetic or glue-on block heater. The one thing about these is they require AC power for the heater so your tractor needs to be somewhere close to a source of electric. On my machines that have these, I put a timer on the cord so it comes on about 30-60 minutes before when I expect to use the tractor. (e.g. I get out of work at 4PM so I have the timer set to start then expecting I'll be starting my chores around 4:30-5:00PM.

Agreed on both counts. While the block heater is the most effective of the two, it does require ac power available. The other is known as a thermostart element and requires a fuel supply tied into the tractor's fuel return line system. Not hard to do (if you know what you're doing) but again requires lines and fittings you will need to acquire. If you have ac power near by I would suggest the block heater. External tank heaters are the simplest and are very effective. Something on this order.
