Hey Bud......Really glad you found a work-around to get you going. For me, I would be concerned with finding that broken/exposed/shorted-out section of wiring. Nothing like cruising along and then wondering where that smell of something burning is coming from, watching the smoke grow in intensity, and then the flames go to work. You do carry a fire extinguisher on board???........You do have a quick disconnect on your battery connections to pull it off and quit feeding electricity to the area?

On and on; but after watching a BMW motorcycle burn up due to NOT fixing a shorted out wire in the wiring harness/bundle because it was wired around to get the fix and then ignored. I kinda tend to finding out what is the matter........God bless......Dennis

Sorry to bring back old tread but what type of connector is the white one in picture?

I think i have a short in mine and want to replace.

Thanks

Use an ohm meter and check for continuity between each wire. If it doesn't read close to zero ohms, you don't have a short. A short will usually involve blown fuses and melted wires.

Thanks i a pretty sure it is the connector or bad wire in thete since it acts funny when moving the connector. Sometimes it reads and if i move it it will stop. Seems to only work when not fully seated.

Those pins should be removable with the wire still attached. Take a bit of electronic spray cleaner, spray the male and female pin real good. If that still doesn't fix it, remove one female pin at a time, give it a sleight squeeze with small needle nose pliers and re-insert. That should give the male pins a tighter fit.
