First time snowblower use

One word description , WOW!!!!!!
Previously I used a blade mounted to my jeep to do this work . I have a concrete driveway about 50' wide by about 150' long . The blade worked fine except I had to make repeated passes because of the length I had to push it to . I Was lucky I had an open field to push it to behind my property . The blade would only keep so much in front of before spilling off to the sides , so I had to make many passes over the same area to move it to the field . I considered putting metal on the ends of it to contain more snow but I needed the ability to angle it to break through the drifts so that idea wouldn't work . We just had about a 6" snowfall , first one of the season . I was done in a fraction of the time it would have taken using the blade .
Needless to say I'm almost joyful how the machine preformed . I would like to say thank you to the kubota engineers that designed this system .
To anyone that lives in snow country considering buying one , I say DO IT . You will not regret it .

I thought the same thing when I jumped on mine for the first time. I now look forward to doing snow-blowing. I just helped my neighbor with my Kubota do his driveway he's old and he was so amazed how that snowblower cut through that heavy wet snow like it was nothing. Best investment I ever made and I'm old too but it's a joy snowblow now!

Yeah , I was kinda looking forward to spending the winters in florida in a couple of years to get away from this chore . My son in law said he would take care of my snow removal for me when I went . Now may just go to get away occasionally . Much cheaper to stay here as I won't have to buy or rent a place to live there and not use it for six months .
Ok , still probably going to find a way to justify going there , but it won't be because I have to move snow here .
I started the removal this morning wearing a coat , then took off coat and wore a sweatshirt , by the time I was halfway done was down to a t shirt and heater fan on low .
I leterally love this machine . Sounds kinda weird , but it is true .

I'm finding out I should have spent the extra money and got the blower instead of the Boss plow. two major wet snowfalls and both times my open station tractor/loader/blower had to bail me out.
I'm just getting too old and tired to enjoy 4 hours of snow in my face on it now though.

There is a negative to the blower compared to the blade . The initial cost , and it is a big one , the price compared to the blade . Real numbers comparison .
The blower cost me 12,500 . 00 dealer installed as it is quite an extensive install . I bought a 2017 rtv 1100 c with about
2000 hours on it for about 12,000.00 . A really nice aftermarket blade was quoted at 5,000 installed . I could have bought
2.5 blades for what I paid for the blower . I live in south dakota , snow can start early and keep snowing into may . Some years it seems like a constant , some not so much . I know there are many that can't spend that kind of money . Believe me I did not want to . I had a blade and it worked , but compared to. Blower , the blower wins in every way except price . With the blower I have the choice of blowing it almost straight up in the air and the wind takes care of it from there if it's a cold powdery snowfall . This first snow was a mix , kinda wet on the bottom and powdery on top . I was easily able to blow it 3/4 across the width of my driveway . I have a neighbor on one side that would probably have a cow if I put snow towards the property line , especially the volume of snow this thing moves . No problem , I blew across to other side . This brings me to one of benefits for me , that is ability to blow it where I want it . The chute can blow almost completely 90 degrees to the left or right or straight up or down within a couple of feet from the blower . Can't do all that with a blade . Kind of a long story short . This blower out preforms a blade in every way . This blower is commercial grade . It would be very easy to make some side money with it , but no . I bought this to take care of my property , not to wear it out doing others . If I use it on my own driveway and keep the to the maintenance schedule I doubt it will wear out in my lifetime or my kids . Thank you again to the kubota engineers .

:wow: Awesome thread. Y'all are making me wish we had more snow here in southern Ohio so I could consider getting a snow blower. As it is, I have not even had to use the blade on my tractor even once for the last 4 out of 5 years.

You are right on Slaw32. I never exactly priced the K-Connect and blower for my RTV for two reasons. I already have a loader tractor with a blower and even the Kubota vee plow was way more than the $5300 I paid for my 6.6 Boss vee plow installed.
My original plan for the RTV was to have a nice warm cab so I can get out to do a quick plow while the storm is going on, then go clean up with open station tractor when the sun is back out.

BUT this winter is starting out different than ANY other winter we have had in this area. Normally it gets cold first, then stays below zero. So the snow is very manageable with a plow. But so far this winter we are getting rain mixed with very heavy snow falls. So it's the kind of snow that packs instead of rolling off a blade.

If I would have kept my F550 with 10 foot Boss vee plow, it would have pushed it no doubt......but I'd REALLY have lawns full of gravel and lots of grass areas dug up.

That's why I think a blower is the ultimate tool.

I think I did it backwards. Maybe I should have spent the extra and got the blower for the RTV that has a cab......and just use the tractor for the loader and my hydraulic rear blade......you know......the stuff that doesn't blow snow all over you in the wind, LOL

Maybe Monday I'll call my dealer and see if they have anyone that wants to buy a Boss plow for an RTV.

Well there will be no snow blower for my RTV, LOL Guess I'll keep enjoying my open station tractor and just use the RTV for light cleanups.

You must live in canada , eh . Or
You must live in canada , a .
Not sure how you guys spell it . Unless you live in the Yukon you could save a boatload of money driving a bit to cross the us border . On a serious note that is part of the reason I bought this year . With all the availability issues and talk of huge inflation going on and going to happen I knew it wasn't going to get cheaper if I waited . When I bought mine the dealer I bought it from had 5 of them on the ground . Every other dealer I checked with told me may of next year was the earliest I could get one from them and they were 2,000.00 more .

Ya, once I stopped laughing, now I just feel as though Kubota is insulting my intelligence.

Guess if I don't want to be blowing on the open station tractor I'll just have to go out more often with the RTV and plow before it gets too deep.

Probably. I know the one on my B2620 is made by RAD in Quebec. They make a big percentage of them for many different brands. Massey Ferguson being another.

Ya, even if I went into the States to buy one, I'd still have the exchange, duty and taxes to get it back into Soviet Canukistan.

I just don't see ANYTHING about that unit worth that kind of money. I can buy a LOT of blower for a tractor for that.

Follow up ,
Last two days have been a test . At or below 0 f , 35 mph plus steady winds . Didn't snow at all but I think all the snow from north dakota landed in my driveway . Been living here most all my life and have NEVER seen seen snow packed so hard . Drove kubota out , warmed up a bit I tried to blow snow . Snow was so hard I just drove over the top of it . I literally had to push down full force with the full force of 4 point hitch , almost lifting the front wheels off the concrete to get machine to dig in to move snow . First pass was almost impossible . Not exaggerating , couldn't steer left or right . Felt like front tires weren't contacting the ground . After first pass I could steer , kind of . Definitely glad I have this setup . Without the power and weight of this machine I would have had to call a pay loader in to do the job . Helped out my next door neighbors on both sides . They all want to buy me a bottle , told them thanks . Told them maybe a grease tube to help me keep it ready for next time . Thanks a whole bunch to kubota engineers , I was inside the whole time in my street clothes with heater on fan speed 2 .

Right on Slaw32. That's one thing about them too....the heater will melt you out of the cab.

Weather hasn't been bad at home, but it's been minus 40 up here at the mine with 50 MPH winds for two days. I must be getting old, because that is now just painful to me.

Hi, those snow blowers are nice.

I purchased and installed a front plow kit V5289 for my V5290 plow and noticed everything was made in Canada. Nice to see things made in North America. Snow blower would be nice, but way too expensive and some draw backs.

Would be nice to install a hydraulic driven snow blower, lots of room in front of crank to install large pump. Running lines to front would keep ground clearance that K-Connect affects. Also, the V5289 style of mount is very common on Kubota snow blowers. Would need to do some calculations on what size motor/pump, but i am sure it can be done for a fraction of the K-Connect set up.

Just a though,

No regrets here . I was thinking about getting a Kubota v-blade as I have the kubota quick connect as part of the snowblower setup . I was concerned about the blower having enough power to equal it's width but after running it no need for a blade . I moved snow with a blade attached to my jeep before getting the blower . It's much faster with the blower as I get it done in much fewer passes . With the length I need to clear the blade would only hold so much before spilling off to the sides . Needed to be angle blade because of depth and hardness of the snow .
After using a blade compared to this blower , no contest . Blower much faster and many fewer passes .
Glad I didn't buy the blade as the blower is the way to go.
Just my personal experience.
