Farmall 200

Well, i've done it! Finally bought a red tractor. I grew up with a Farmall Super "C", which was really my neighbors, but I used it to mow pasture. I've been kinda kicking tires for the past 25 years, looking for a model "C". At last, I just bought a Farmall 200 for $1300, with mounted cultivators & 3 PT hitch. Which, if i'm not mistaking, the 200 is a newer version of the older "C". This 200 has been parked in a barn for 10 years. Its alittle ugly cosmetically, but, the tin is straight as an arrow, couldn't even find a dent! I'm going to run 'er around here for a couple of months to get all the licks out of it, then, when im sure its runnng well and there are no oil leaks, it will be time for restoration. I will do follow-up post (pics) of the restoration process.

I forgot how expensive tires are. It'll cost $1000 for 2 rear tires,(10/36) tubes/mounting. Yikes! The last time I bought a rear tire was in 1989. It cost $250 for tire/tube/mounting. Oh my, how things have changed!

Unless you are in a big hurry, look around at ag-type flea markets, swap meets, auctions, etc. I was needing a pair of ag tires for my MF 165 a few years ago, like you said they were about $500 each new. Well, the Florida Flywheelers are about 8 miles up the road from me, I found a pair there for the $500. Don't think they had ever been mounted, even tho there was just a hint of 'weather-crack' on them, but not enough to hurt 'em, especially since I keep the tractor under the shed when it's not working.
Yea, I really lucked up with them, & I hope you'll luck up like I did.

thanks for the tire info, i'll try to find a decent set. I found a web site called "tire town", they seem like they hve good prices too. The bad news is, i changed the engine oil in this farmall tractor and got a bunch of anti freeze. Im hoping its a head gasket and not the block. Ill find out this weekend.

Hope it isn't bad news and if/when you are ready for tires let me know the size and I'll put you intouch with the person I just bought mine from for ol granny, very reasonable!

thank you Archdean, I wil let you know. I'm having fun working on this Farmall 200, but, the money I have in parts sure adds up quickly.

Got the Farmall 200 running today. Rebuilt carb, new 6v batt, replaced starter solonoid. It runs like a clock, im very pleased. Something i didnt realize, the 2 point hitch also pivots via hydralics, makes hooking up to equipment much easier. Going to pwr wash it dwn & pull the head off, may hve a bad head gasket, h2o in the oil.

Remember when i said i had anti freeze in the engine oil? I've been running this tractor all around here, i can't see where any h20 getting into the oils, it all looks clean. Someone told me that since the tractor had been sitting for years that some coolant may have leaked around the cylinder sleeves, into the pan.
