I'll bet, looks like fun! I've put over 1000hrs in 6 years and it's still fun!
I really like the picture of the pond, looks like a place to sit & relax after a days work.
If you're not already aware (and you want to clear an area as quick as possible), this approach should be faster for the trees and ground you have.
With the entire tree still standing, put your FEL bucket against the trunk of the tree and push the tree over. The end. The stump will come out with the tree.
If you get into bigger trees (let's say 10"+), using your backhoe, snap the roots on the side of the tree you're going to push from.
This should work for most evergreens unless they're mammoth. It does work on some deciduous trees but some maples, most oaks and all locust will need dug out the hard way. Elm trees are nearly impossible so I just cut the stump below grade and cover it.
Good pics Mike and Dawg. Welcome to NTT Mike. What a way to start out ...making me jealous showing off your back hoe. One of these days ..... least that is what I keep telling myself. Next spring I hope to rent a track hoe for a week or two for some playing around er I mean work....yeah that's it.
I'll 2nd what BC said in his post about pushing over trees. All that top weight helps pull the root ball right up out of the ground. I've done that plenty since I don't have a hoe.
Thank,s guys
for the input, did that with smaller trees but had all the big pines cut, most all went to the saw mill up in ga, broke my sub frame on both sides digging up some of the biger stumps had a wielder beef up the frame with 1/2" plate steel won,t break there again , I will put some pics of that on later on.
I have wished I had a B/H several times. It would make it easier digging out these things, for sure! But the FEL does help a LOT.
I spend a couple hours digging/pulling this one out, had to pull it several directions to get it loose enough to get it started up out of the hole. That one side root was longer than the shovel, so it went down over 10 feet deep.
No telling how many of these things there are on this property, I only dig/pull the ones that the disc hits & threatens to tear something up.
