Can someone walk me thru the steps to change my fuel filter on a 900? I seem to remember reading somewhere that the system is self-bleeding but wanted to be sure that I know what is the correct way before I start.

I just used a visegrips on the tank side of the filter to clamp off the hose (put some thick cardboard over the hose first so the hose was not damaged by the visegrip jaws). Then replaced the filter and cranked it up.

I did the same (vise-grips on the tank side). I didn't use cardboard but it didn't take much of a pinch to stop the fluid flow.

Once you remove the grips, the filter will fill and you're all set.

This is basically what I do,You can also remove the plate(3 bolts) surrounding the air cleaner and gain some nice work room. for this job. I did this when I changed my power steering fluid too.Bordercollie 2507 hrs

Thanks to all that replied, I knew I could count on this crew for help. Sounds a lot easier than my Massey tractor what with bleeding the pressure lines and all. I'm not sure how this system is different but if it self bleeds that's great.

What Massey (how old) is yours? Almost all relatively modern diesels are self priming. Some moreso than others but nothing like the older tractors.

Put the water separatorfilter kit on my RTV1100, twist bowl off and dump the waterout. If you want to change filter pry out and put in new element with O rings and screw back on. Once filter seats the fuel valve opens and air bleads to tank and it fills up with fuel. It is alot better then the stock filters, if there was room on the BX I would put it on it also.
