Blizzard plow

Does anyone have a blizzard 680lt or 720lt on their machine? If so, is the weight of the plow a problem. On the Curtis plow you have to use a switch and the dump lever to operate the plow. Seems to cumbersome opposed to a joystick or control pad. I know they are $$ but I am looking for a used unit. Also, can you have a winch on the machine if you use this plow? I am looking forward to plowing Michigan snow next season with my new machine opposed to using my Kubota tractor with the back blade. Neck gets a liitle sore after a while from looking back all the time.

We purchased a new 1100 in early February for our church and just put a Blizzard 720 on it. We had enough snow to test it out once, but we're ready for next year.

We were also concerned with weight. When we finally got it hooked up and lifted the plow, all our concerns vanished. The front of the vehicle doesn't even dip down significantly. It handles the weight with no problem, like it's not even there.

As far as power to plow, as I said, we only got to test it once, but we were impressed. I think this setup is going to be quite effective.

One point to remember when you install, or if you have it installed: the directions tell you to remove the front grill guard and leave it off. I checked with a local Kubota dealer who had two of these Blizzards installed on 900s for Alcoa Aluminum about this and he said that Alcoa ended up putting the grills back on and reported no clearance problems. This was our experience as well.

It is a very sweet setup, top quality. The joystick works very well and the plow is quick to remove and install. Can't comment about a winch.

I'm in on this thread too. I'm about to pull the trigger on an RTV1100 with the Blizzard 680LT. I know it weighs 355lb not counting the mounting brackets. My thinking is that the 1100 already weighs close to 2500 lb, and the extra weight of the plow will help it move snow to the side (extra weight weight is on the front wheels). I don't know what a Curtis/Kubota plow weighs, but it sure is nice to have all the hydraulics on the removable part. I also agree that the joystick is a much more intuitive way to operate the plow. I wonder if anyone has mounted their joystick on the RTV's shift lever instead of with the strap around the seat that Blizzard provides?

I can't believe that I'm about to buy a utility vehicle that weighs as much as my car! (And also costs as much!) But I'm sure looking forward to using it for all kinds of stuff.
