7730 IVT

Have a 7730 with a IVT 2900 Hrs, Stopped middle of road locked down, JD dealer says a Total trans melt down. Of course i'm the first IVT is just bullet proof so they say, wondering if anyone else has had problem and if anyone thinks JD might help $20,000.00 for reman tranny?

Can't help with your problem. :( How old is the tractor? If relatively new, have you talked to JD at a level higher then the dealer?
 
Its a 08-09 and Thursday the rep is to be here, but talking with the service manager it is looking pretty doom. Thanks

Total meltdown I guess is possible, but these transmissions have been pretty bulletproof. I hope they ruled out all other possibilities. With all the electronics on this transmission, there are many things possible to shut it down. Are there any error codes? Did it make any unusual noises? We have quite a few of these out and some have 6000+ hours of heavy duty use/abuse without any major problems. Did you buy extended warranty?Good Luck!
 
The outside gears the 4 smaller ones are all chewed up and sent teeth and filing thru the whole thing. It was going down the road and locked up. Couldn't even start the tractor and was locked down in the middle of road No extended war. It had to many hourd when i bought it out of state
 
Update,, John Deere payed 1/3 of the 24000.00 bill, still alot but better the a poke in the eye. Guess pretty happy over all
