62HRS And Now my Drive Shaft RATTLES Like Crazy.

Right on Deerlope!! Stand byus Kubota. I have already bought and put in my own front shaft months and months ago. Of coarse it is rattling again. I had the rearfixed under warranty. Two Guns is right too . We should be be notified of recalls. It's the right thing to do for your loyal customers Kubota. I love this machine but it does distress me to have to do all this checking up on recalls by myself. It makes me wonder what else I don't know about. Quality control ,serial #... A specific lot could be identified quite easily. I have a Bachelor of Science in Business Management from La. College and I amsure thatsuch apositive customer care attitude would be a plus for the RTV customer base. Bordercollie..

Look, I'm not trying to defend policy, but....

If its not a recall, you won't be notified, thats how it works. On the fender stay kits for the BX, its definitiely a fix set forth by the company, but they have not notified every owner of a BX. However, in giving the dealer a fixed amount of time to repair each unit, Kubota does expect that the dealer will call all owners in an effort to do the work, thus collecting the warranty money. However, its not a recall, so there is no requirement to notify an owner.

This isn't unique to Kubota, many automotive companies do the same thing. Again, I'm not defending or endorsing any action taken by Kubota on any problem, as I have no power to change it.

I do however, encourage you to speak to your dealer, or any dealer that will listen and give you satisfaction.

Two more comments: First, I have to say that I haven't had more than one 900 come in for the driveshaft problem. On that unit, it would be hard to say that the shaft had a problem or not, since the shaft was in far worse shape than simply noise. We didn't go into depth with the owner, as they traded it in. We replaced the entire front shaft.

The PSB's for 2007 had nothing in them for the front shaft. Please keep in mind, this isn't built by a car company, its built by a tractor company. As such, rattles and noise are part of the game at this point. As the RTV is refined, it'll get quieter and more user friendly.

Thanks for your input KT. I value your opinion. I like my RTV and have had very few if any problems with it. By fall of 08 I hope to have a new RTV900 with a cab and a few accs.

Even Toyota has had some "silent recalls" in the past for some important issues.

My dealer allegedly fixed my front shaft when I had it in for an issue a year ago. It stills rattles in 2WD. I can't see that there is any damage so I'm just living with it for now.

There does seem to be a fair amount of rotational slack in the shaft but I'm guessing that that's normal since I'm not hearing any whining indicative of too much backlash.

We all know Kubota has a quality product . If something is wrong though ,I want to be notifiedIF my serial number is involved. That is all I am saying. I love this RTV and it makes my life so much easier.I'd much rather be out in the cold/heat on the RTV 900 than in an office behind a desk.Take away the RTV and the answer might just change!! Just was under a new RTV900 today. I checked the front shaft, and found that its snug on the splined ends. This indicates to me that Kubota has worked the design a bit.

I have to say as an experienced tech, I'm not happy with that loose fit I've seen before.

Once again, I do like that fix which was linked. If I had a 900 come in with a complaint about that rattle, I'd certainly propose it as a fix to the manager.

I have an 07 and on the 3rd shaft and it is also bad. Now the rear shaft is giving problems, but the rear yoke is fixed unlike the one on cornejo.com.I am going to try this though. I am also on the 3rd starter, replaced rear wheel brgs once ,and all the rear axle joints once. any ideas on beefing the whole thing up. I think its a good idea but weak in driveline design.

Man I would have run that bugger off a cliff a long time ago. Something just isn't right. The machine is a year old and you have had problems like that.

Deerlope,

You are 100% correct >>>> SOMETHING IS NOT RIGHT !!!

There are folks down here that put theirs threw hell, understand, they don't abuse them, they work the crap out of them, in deep mud, water, mixed, pulling all kinds of weight, loading them down over the limit, their machine never rest. And I've never heard any of them having that kind of trouble..... And the three starter thing ? Me & SOMEBODY would be having us a sit down !!!! Hard to believe that ace would let it get that far ...If it's the way I read it, and that's really happening , I would be throwing a damn fit !!! I be a filling that thing full of holes..... There is no room in my life for something that doesn't work proper !!!!!

I also work mine, typically hauling large loads of fire wood. Also now that I have the tracks I am in the snow a lot and those little frozen ice crystals are worst than any sand or mud.

The first shaft was under warranty, as was the first starter. I'm sorry, the secondstarter I had rebuilt. The dealer just says its out of warranty. The first one actually caught fire at about 600 miles, I am now at 1000 or so. The dealer replaced the inner rear axle shafts at 500 miles then I had to replace all the rear ujoints at about 600. It was purchased in august of 06, so we had it more than a year.

Ace, I agree with my fellow members and friends. Something is wrong here. There is no way you should be having all these problems. I met a bull buyer today that had a cabbed 900 (several years old with 2500 hrs) and had these problems such as you. I have almost 1900 hrs and have had driveshaft joint problems but that is all.If your dealer is good thenhe will help you resolve this. Next time I buy {hope it is a long time} and if I buy new it will be with Two Guns type of dealer.I hope this gets resolved because Kubota doesn't need this kind of publicity scaring off customers. You aren't long out of warranty... Just curious, have you put bigger tires on your unit.? The guy I had talked to had. Keep us informed . Thanks, Bordercollie[&][&]

It is used 5 days a week not in any unusual conditions though. Some mud and water but only if the roads on the farm are flooded or muddy. Its not used as a toy. The tires were put on after all this occured, they are not anymore aggressive than the stock tires. 26x10x12 essex which is a good factory replacement. Im not totally downing kabota, I know many rtv's with no problems. Ours is driven mainly for transportation, not under much of a load.

Ace,

Tryusing the number I told you earlier in this post >>>> You and your dealer has records of these problems that has been happening with you unit.... And they should be able to talk to you and maybe do you some good on finding out the problems, and maybe giving you a helpful hand on fixing all these mis-fortunes you been having with you machine. Please keep us up to date on this. I am concerned about how they treat you during this nerve racking situation !!!

I got ya, I think this joint problem must be in a certain production run. I would contact Customer Service because they need to know up high about this. I have had the bigger tires (at first 26" and now 27" ) since about 600-800 hrs. Now 1900 hrs. I had the rear drive shaft updated under warranty and replaced the front by myself after that. Then right after that ,I had to replace the bearing between the front and rear. It actually fell apart on me the next morning after I had made a night run to fix fence down the road 4 miles.Talk about fortunate. I am in "mud" all the time in the winter. I guess it is a mix of everything associated with cows.HaHA. When I have the time ,I am going to try the rattle fix for the front.I use this RTV( called Hoss)strictly on the farm. It is a real pleasure and cranks every time the first time.We have Angus cattle and I spray 200 acres of small paddocks with my boomless tank trailerusing Grazon. After the neighbor'scotton comes up ,Ican onlyspray generic round up along the electric fence lines using the wand. The Hoss is always busy and I'm just along for the ride.My aggressive XTR's will take me just about anywhere when the right transtechnique is used with the RTV.
