2016 1140 bogs down and shuts off up hill

Good morning all,
Having a problem where I can't really climb even the slightest slope which slows down the UTV to a crawl (maybe 3-5 miles per hour) and if the hill is steep enough the Kubota will come to a stop and the engine shuts off, is it normal for the engine to shut off? I would assume the clutch would kick in and basically neutralize the vehicle and allow it to idle with no forward movement, but instead it shuts off, when I re start the engine, I put it into low gear and then the vehicle will climb slowly (3-5 MPH)... any checks that comes to mind for me to try? no issues on flat ground.

It would be good to know what you call a steep hill? 45 degree angle? Since your transmission will pull the engine down and kill it i would suspect the engine isn't running like it is supposed to. First check would be to put a tach on it to check that the engine is running at least 3600 rpm 3800 better at full throttle in neutral. Do this and check back

Do you have the pedal mashed to the floor? When climbing and the engine starts to bog down, let off the pedal to about half way to get more power.

sounds good, can you give me some pointer on how to set up a tach on this machine?

yeah, you mean I basically let the HST transmission drop to a "lower gear" so that the engine produces more torque right?

You are way off on how the hst functions. It is an hst hydrostat. The gear transmission is just a two or three speed with reverse. The hst drives this gear case and the gears only change if you change them. There are no clutches. You can purchase a photo or laser tach just about anywhere and it will have instructions. Always check at the crank pully

What I meant to say is that if I depress the accelerator I should get more power just as BCzoom stated.

You let OFF the pedal to about half way. An aux pump will kick in and give you more power but at the expense of speed.

IMG_4799.jpegTook the injection pump out to inspect it and it had this BB broken off(there was a recall on these but only good for 5 year). I had read that this could cause my issues now I need a pump, I don’t think I can find that part.
