.... got hit with one many years ago. thought I was going to die. One cannot explain the pain, fever, and misery these thing can bring upon you ....
Really believe if I would get bite today, It would be all over with .....

Bad thing about the cottonmouth, they don't back down, and they will come to you !!!!

How big do those cottonmouth get? You people down south sure have some interesting critters to contend with. No dangerous snakes in this area.....AND I"M GLAD OF THAT...

Would say they average in the neighborhood of 32-34 inches. Really a short viper snake. But they do get fat and mean.
They will come to you. They don't back down from anything, but they have good reason not to, for they are very, very poisonous. I have lost several good dogs and livestock from these mean bastards. More than several times, I have had to jump out of a boat, for one getting into the boat by falling out of a limb running in the back swamps, or one climbing into the boat.
The older they get, the blacker in color they get. They love old stumps, logs, and swamp cover to get into waiting for something to come bye.

The snow and cold looks better and better each day. You can have the critters. Besides..... when its real cold and snowing..... time to turn the heat dial and play in the shop.

Yep, all that shop time cooped up all alone often produces a negative aspect on everything one touches. Instead, folks get out and cope with what is REAL in this world instead of developing a self-centered approach and aspect..........God bless......Dennis

went walk yesterday and had to hurry up back to the rhino to get my possie some water one of them was breathin real heavy after a lot of gulps of water and pouring it over him he got back to normal.as for me shoo try takin pain meds that raise your temps up and go outside and get in front of some red hot steel(ain't nuthin nice. and man like the snake you posted they are all over around here right now.i got two huge water snakes in my fish pond one is just over 4' and the other is around 3' i have been just letting them be but they are starting to eat my koi's so they gotta go not.the copperheads are out in full force right now in the swamp/woods gotta look down and up because them what we call congo's climb up the trees and palmettos and hang there.even the gators are hitting the woods to food because the bayous ran dry for a few months and that killed off all their fish for food so now they are walking the trails in the woods lookin for whatever they can find.

I use to live in New Roads on the River Road half way to Morganza. Spent a lot of time around the pits along side the river. I never saw so many different critters, in all my life ......... and the bugs!!!!!!!!!

Yes, Louisiana swamps has creatures that can't even be identified. Creatures, animals, and bugs that National Geographic has never seen. We live in a lost world down here.
