Turn signals/hazard...

[quote user="JWHAYS"]

I ordered the kit for the turn signal/hazard lights. Anyone installed this kit?

Hey John,

I thought about the kit but for price vs. use (as I don't drive on the road much), I opted for something different.
I would be honored if you would purchase a kit, mail it to me and I'd install so I could then reply to your original question "Yes.".

Thanks for the info, David.

Brian, maybe Santa Claus will bring you the kit! :)

David, just picked up the kit and am looking thru the instruction manual. It looks clear and to the point. My dealer asked me if I was going to install it and I said yes. They were gracious enough to offer help if I needed it. They're a good group at Apex Rentals in Hesperia.

how did the installation go?

I installed the kit yesterday in about 1 hour. It is very straight forward with excellent instructions. I was concerned about removing the steering wheel, but that was no problem. the center cover is soft rubber that is held on by 3 tips and it pulls straight off revealing the nut to be removed and the wheel slips right off. The only other thing really is mounting the flasher unit which requires removing the side cover on drivers side. Again very good instructions and no problems. Then simply replace the taillight units, install front bulbs and sockets with included harness and that's it!

Do I hear correctly that the entire taillight assembly gets replaced?

If so, if any of you that have added this kit want to part with (sell) your original tail lights, let me know. Although I haven't yet broken the rear light, I do have a feeling it'll happen and wouldn't mind having a spare set hanging around.

Hmmm...where in the instructions does it say to remove the steering wheel?

And you did the installation in about one hour? Hayfarmer 'you da man'!!

Bczoom,

check with your dealer, he might give you some that he took off a unit.

Ipurchaseda spare net set on ebay a few months ago for $ 3.00 plus $ 4.50 shipping. For I know, beating and banging in the woods, feel like there is a stick out in the woods waiting to pop a lens.[8-)]

Installed the kit and the only lights working are the brake lights. No turn signals, no hazard lights, not even the headlights now.

In the directions, a 'panel switch plug' is to be removed. Anybody know what this might be?

Thanks in advance...

Are we talking about a 900 or 1100? My 900 has a rocker switch on the dash for the optional directionals. Why does the steering wheel have to come off, if we are talking about the 900?

I was thinking about getting them but I don't like the dash switch set up.

Keith

I do not have the signals, but have a RTV 900, and I think that the switch plate beside the light switch goes to the hazard. For it has a hazard decal above it. Heck, I could be wrong, but I believe the signals are on the steering column and hazard on switch on dash, that's why you might have to take the steering wheel off ~~~~

The turn signal switch is also on the dash, to the left of the headlight switch and the hazard switch. The steering wheel did not have to be removed, at least on the 900.

I didn't know where the signal switch really went, for I don't have 'em >>>> the slot left of the headlight switch ( where the signals must go ) is where I installed my winch rocker switch >>>>> Forgot about that spot <<<<<

My winch rocker is mounted below the dash. The RTV900 came with a winch.

BTW, both the turn switch and headlight switch are to the left of the hazard switch. I may have made it sound confusing in my previous post. It confused me when I read it!! :)
