Mid-October is normal first snow. We'll be getting it tonight and tomorrow.

When does everyone else get their first snow?

I was born and raised in the snow-belt area south of Buffalo NY. Our first snow there was also mid-October. Lake Erie (the source of the major snow) was still too warm to get snow falling before about now. I do miss a good storm like we used to get up there. We had one blizzard that put power lines and poles under snow and made single story homes disappear in a matter of 2 days. Our only way out of the house was through a 2nd story window. It was 3 weeks before we found my mom's car... which was in the driveway.

Too dang early for me! I only have about 3/4 of my wood shed filled so far. Had to quit splitting wood early today and get everything ready for winter. Got the plow mounted on the pickup and turned on the heat in the back patio. Rounded up anything that would freeze and put it in the basement. Guess if we get as much as they are calling for I am ready.

none down here infact you got a better chance of finding a drug runners bial of snowy white stuff washing up on the beach down here than anything. some snow would be nice though for one or two days i just keep that fireplace going stronge.

We have had snow on a couple of occasions so far here in Whitehorse. As I write this, there is about half an inch of snow on the ground, though it is getting up to 37-38F today. It was down to 8F the other evening. We don't generally get the snow dumps around here. 2-3 inches would be considered a major snowfall. It just gets and tends to stay cold, with each little bit of snow gradually adding up over the winter.
