I don't believe there's an "Introductions" section on compacttractorreview.com but if you don't mind, tell us about yourself.
What you do, hobbies, family, what you like/dislike...

OK, I guess someone has to go first, so here's a little about me.
I'm in my 40's, married with 2 kids (9 yr old daughter & 5 yr old son)
For my "day job", I'm a consultant and develop computer systems for hospitals. (Hey, it pays the bills...).
Once my day job is done, I'm almost always outdoors, doing something.
I do like my toys (er, I mean tools) for doing things and have a compact tractor (with FEL and all the 3-point attachments), several off-road vehicles, ZTR and more gas, electric and hand tools than I can shake a stick at. (I think at last count, there were over 30 "things" with engines in the building...). On many of them (and mainly the RTV), I like to tinker with them or "accessorize". It's fun to see what you can do and it normally [;)] keeps me out of trouble.
I have a little underground bunker (about 17,000 sq/ft) that the kids and I like to do things in. It's a retired government communications bunker that's made to withstand a very close nuclear blast so it's a nice secure, quiet place to go. When the weather's bad, we go up there and run RC cars, helicopters... or the kids ride their bikes or scooters.
Oh, and my adult beverages are normally Labatts or Miller Lite.

I wish I had a bunker.

I'm also in my 40's (almost 50) with 3 kids that like to use my RTV and leave me to clean it up and put fuel in it. They are 17, 21, and 23. I have a 32X60 shed with my toys (read tools). I like to fabricate and just finished a pneumatic spud gun that can send a spud about a qtr mile.

Maybe we should also have a piston war. They guy with the most pistons is king of the MotoGeeks. My guess... Brian will win.

My count is...
truck 8
car 6
truck 2 8
tractor 4
ZTR 3
RTV 3
chainsaws 3
weedeaters 2
boat 6
blender 1
generator 2

TOTAL 46
Maybe we should also have a piston war. They guy with the most pistons is king of the MotoGeeks.
Don't know if I'd win but off of the top of my head (without looking through the buildings), I came up with 59 cylinders.

A cylinder count nor count of posessions is where I meant this thread to go. I was just interested in learning about others (family, interests, hobbies...).

But, since we did do a cylinder count, I do have some corrections.
Mrs. Zooms cars are 6-cyl, not 8 so remove 4 from my count.
I did find 4 other engine machines so I do still sit at 59.

After I posted I felt the same way. Some days I shouldn't drink so much Mountain Dew. Sorry about that - can we start this thread over?

Hello fellow RTV owners.

Late 30's and married with no kids or plans of having any.
Own a small construction company for going on 20 years..
Live on 50 acres, 90% wooded with a pond and small lake.
We have 2 horses my wife shows in dressage and hunter/jumper competition.
Interests are fishing, guns/shooting competitions, night hikes, flashlights, photography, working the land, and traveling.
Own a Kubota L48 loader/backhoe (since 1999) and the Kubota RTV (since spring 2006).
We go on two or three 2-hour RTV rides a week on the country roads.
Have a black lab, a JR terrier, and 4 parrots.
And feel I was born 100-150 years to late.

Great forum folks. Glad to be a part of it.

I love this kinda stuff! These are pictures of my semi-automatic tennis ball gun. I have a few spud guns as well, and I just finished one that shoots pool fun-noodles like huge nerf darts.

As for me...
I'm in my late 20's, no kids yet - but will be soon.
I work for Messick Farm Equipment, mega -dealer extrodinair. I am part of the family that runs the place. I primarly work as a salesmen, but also do web and application development during the slower times of the year. For those that don't know - this is my website. Before messicks.com became a huge part of my job I felt like doing some web work and this site was the result. I have a 22" Push Mower and a garage full of Stihl stuff... but have been known to take home things that are WAY too big for my house. My wife and I enjoy traveling, skiing, biking, and all things outdoors.

And I'll bet (you hope) she doesn't read this forum............................................................
You are correct bczoom,!!! I called her Battle Ax, once... made a big mistake for 2 reasons ..She Heard Me... But what was worste, ...our Grandson heard it...... So every now and than trying to be funny.... Guess what he calls her!!!! P.S. I also wrote earlier that we have 2 Jack-asses.... welll after my previous comment..... she tells everybody I have 2 jackasses,...... But she has 3 jackasses!!! ..

okay here we go. I am 40 years old and married no kids just 2 border colllies, border collie mcnab x and a good old lab. we have horse and goats. we also help a friend run 2200 pairs of cattle in the winter time. We live on 9 1/2 ac in lovely northern california. today isn't lovely 105. at my real job I am a fire captain, we own two ford f 250s and a brand new l3430 with loader and backhoe. would have done this sooner but work sent me to wisconsin and i just got back. Jon

OK Brian, I'm 60, married 38 years, two grown kids and four grandbabies, all of us here in Austin. I wasn't born in Texas but I've been here 30 years, I own four pairs of boots, I drive an F250 diesel 4x4, wear a Rolex and I'm licensed to carry a concealed handgun, so I guess I'm as Texan as anybody can be. I took up hunting 5 years ago (late start, but I grew up in Chicago and was 18 before I found out shotguns weren't supposed to be sawed off) and bought my RTV for cruising around Texas on hunting trips. I've tricked it out for hunting, lights, high rack shooting bench, rail etc. Most of you have seen the pictures. I went on a great hunt in New Zealand this spring, got a couple of trips scheduled to Canada this fall and next summer I'm off to Africa. (when you start late you need to catch up fast) I own 13 acres up on the Lampasas River near Killeen where I'm planning on building a retirement place. My day job, I'm the managing partner of a patent law firm, everyone of our 13 lawyers has a degree in Electrical Engineering, in addition to his law degree. Our firm motto is "You Can't Spell Geek Without EE" It's an interesting place to work, it takes a particular perversity of spirit to get a degree in EE and then go to law school. It's a tough switch from engineering school where there is only one right answer to law school where there are no wrong answers.

My turn. I rolled over 50 a year ago. I was married a long
time ago. By day I am a engineering leader and new product
designer in the lighting business. I have a home shop where I
fabricate equipment and machine parts for myself and customers. I
am a commercial pilot and have a Beechcraft Bonanza that is a wonderful
traveling machine. I was flying for work a few years ago but that
has nearly stopped now. I heat with wood and have built up the
infrastructure to be fairly efficient at harvesting and handling
wood. Part of this includes the RTV900 a Case 580SK and plenty of
Stihl equipment. I have 10 acres in central Illinois that keeps
me busy. My pneumatic tire count is 101, sparkplugs 74, power
producing cylinders 91, and hydraulic cylinders 36. At any one
time there is always something that won't start, is flat, or drips oil!

46 years old, retired about a month ago. Small farm, 52 tillable, 7 plus wooded. I just love this RTV.

I figure the neighbors must think I am nuts driving up and down the road to the farm in it. The wife is still working from home, I guess I'll try some farming and maybe pickup a teaching job. For now the dove season is upon us here in Maryland and I can't hardly stand it. Wishing good luck to all of you as the autumn creeps up on us. One of these days I'll have to post a photo with the RTV, the trailer and all the stuff I have been hauling around, looking a little like the Clampetts. Don't really have a count on the toys as farm equipment qualifies for me. Going to an auction this coming Monday. Hope every one has a safe labor day weekend.

Hello Everyone,

I'll see 40 this yearand my wife saw it a few years ago (and knows nothing of this website), two children both out of college & married, no grand children yet.I'm a sales/area manager over4 southern states. I was in Law enforcement, but not any longer (reserve status).I own and now live onapprox 25 acres in South Mississippi that is surronded by several thousand acres of National Forrest. I will soon be the proud owner of a Kubota tractor, I have an ATV (red) but plan on replaceing it with an orange one. I enjoy riding my Harley FatBoy and fishing and scuba diving. Since moving in our recently finished home I am becoming an avid bird watcher. I enjoy taking pictures of the wildlife (deer, birds, etc.). I used to hunt when younger but not so much anymore. Just yesterday I shot a 4'5" Rattlesnake just off the back deck (love living in the woods), wife made me do it, was afraid it would eat the puppy (our 13yr old Silky terrier). We both drive trucks (even my company vehicle is a 4x4 SUV) and love the outdoors. This is a great website, looking forward to getting to write to everyone.

I would really be quite satisfied with a 8x10 room that would withstand 150 mph winds.

I really enjoy reading about the other folks on this web site.

Here goes: We live on the Ohio River about 12 miles from it confluence with the Mississippi River on a farm. We be-Kay, my wife and I and three shih-tzus-used only for guard dogs. I am a tired retired Civil Engineer and happy farmer. My wife is retired from Illinois Department of corrections-not a guard either. We have a seven acre lake in our back yard and are surrounded by our 60 acres of beautiful prairie grasses. Wildlife seems to be our hobby-animals and birds that is. We ended up with about 320 purple martins included hatchthis year and 250+ humming birds, also hatch included. Now how do I know the number-take several digital photos and put on computer, blow-up and count. We enjoy boating biking, wildlife photography, about anything outside, drives in the Missouri, Kentucky and Illinois hills, lakes and beautiful country side. Ienjoy and doall the cooking and Kay does the house work. Everything else we try to do together. Have three Kubotas-105 hp, 22 hp and the 1100. Drive a 2006 F250 super duty and Kay drives a nice little 07 Vette, also have a 2003 mini van, 26 ft Crownline.Have seven acres of yard we mow with two dixon-72 in. and 60 in.decks. Farm about 500+ acres of corn and soybeans-own 200 acres. Went on our first vacation this summer in our 38+ years of marriage, drove 5000+ miles and visited the north west area including as far south as Yellowstone and Tetons. Should havegone sooner but to busy-at least at the time it seemed that way. Now at 67 wish we had started much sooner.

If anyone gets to extreme southern Illinois please look us up. We will be at America.

Howdy! Just joined. And another Marylander (Transplanted Mainer) checking in. My wife and I have a choose and cut christmas tree farm on 17 acres that keeps us pretty busy year 'round (harder than you think). We're old enough and have been married long enough to have two children (married) and our first grandchild is due next month :)

We're also in collecting and restoring antique GM trucks (currently doing a fram off resto on a '49 1.5-ton). We drive an all-original '49 1-ton and we have a '65 GMC fire engine we use to irrigate with ;)

For farm toys, we use an MF 1533, two JD 6x4 diesel Gators (Love those Gators!) and various spray rigs and mowers. Our ole dependable is our "Farmdog" -- an '85 F-350 shortbed dumping flatbed. We're not terribly brand loyal (we have green, red and yellow stuff, as well as Dodges, Fords, Chevies and GMCs laying around), but we really like our local MF dealer.

Our Cylinder Index is 78.

Glad to be here and meet all of you!
