Shifting in and out of reverse impossible

I have a Kioti DK45S. Last year it became very hard to shift, now if I shift it into reverse, I cannot get it out. Any suggestions?

Welcome to Net Tractor Talk, honeycreek. I'm not real familiar with that tractor, but I think it has a manual trans. If so, have you checked the clutch adjustment? Maybe a shift fork bent?

Differential lock

> Differential Lock
A rear wheel differential lock pedal can be applied to increase traction by locking the rear differential.

I got this info off the web. If the clutch is adjusted and working, I wonder if the diff. lock is locked and perhaps holding pressure against the gears? Perhaps try it unlocked. Any pressure against the gears in my old antique tractors makes them impossible to shift unless I bump the clutch and shift at the same time. They are straight-tooth gears, however.

Sounds like the fork in the shift assembly. Had the exact same thing happen a couple of months ago in an old British Leyland. Clearing snow at the end of the laneway, put it in reverse and couldn't get it out.....fork was broken. Welded it back together and all was well.

HELLO EVERYONE.

PLEASE BE ADVICE, YOU MUST COME TO A COMPLETE STOP BEFORE SHIFTING, OTHERWISE YOU WILL DAMAGE THE MACHINE. I HAVE FARM EXPERIENCES AND KNOW THE DIFFERENCE IN MANUAL AND AUTOMATIC. IF YOU ARE NEW TO THESE MACHINES, YOU MUST WORK WITH THE MACHINE, DON'T FORCE THE MACHINE TO DO THE JOB FOR YOU. IT DOESN'T MATTER WHAT MACHINE YOU HAVE, RESPECT THE MACHINE AND THE MACHINE RESPECT YOU. IT'S A COMMON SENCE.

Check where the shifting rod goes into the gear box . My nieghbors DK45 did this and the shaft had rusted where it passed the bushing . I ended up taking off the bottom cover ,disconnecting the rod . cleaning it up on a buffing wheel and reinstalling with good grease . Works like a champ now and saved him $700 the dealer wanted to do this . A few shots of spray lube might even do the trick !
