If you have a 2008 and older RTV 500, 900 or 1100 performing these checks could gain you a little better low end torque and take off speed.
Does your emergency brake apply within the first couple clicks when it is pulled? RTV 900/1100
If YES, go to step one, if NO go to step two.
Step one, you will need to pull off the left side cover for the e-brake using a 5mm allen head or drive socket, and also a 12mm wrench for the rear and bottom bolts. Then, you will need 2, 10mm wrenches to loosen the nuts for the cable ATTACHED to the back of handle and adjust until you e-brake engages about one third to half travel-- should give you about 1/4in left of rod when you tighten down jam nuts.
What we are doing here is removing e-brake drag, so the HST is nut fighting with it. You might encounter a softer brake pedal now because the slave cylinders have to be filled more because we increased the brake pedal stroke. But with these machines, who uses the brake pedal right?
Step two, applies to the RTV 900/1100 with assist/manual decompression for the HST, on the back of the HST housing, left hand side under the hyd couplers for the dump bed. After we adjust the e-brake, this spring will need to be adjusted so there is NO TENSION on the spring.
E-brake off, remove item 4 from item 5 and adjust turn buckle for spring until its even with inside notch,.. easy to check by hold end ofspring to side of item 5. Reinstall spring and you are done.

Flip up the seat and set to the same as I have described above for the 900/1100.
NOTE: There is no spring adjustment performed on the 500's.</p>
