Older RTV fuel problems.

I have an older rtv900 with app. 400 hours. It cranks up really good when it is cold but when I run it awhile and shut it off for a few minutes I have a heluva time getting it to start. It acts like it is not getting enough fuel. I replaced the fuel filter, fuel stop soleniod and the outer air filter and its still doing the same thing. If I run it hard and shut it off and start it back up immediately it starts fine. If I let it set 5 mins then I have to wind on it forever to finally get it to start. When it does start then the fan belt starts schreeching. Any ideas?

I had this sort of thing happen when fuel lines went bad but only when trying to crank after a few hours or days of sitting. I would make sure that the fuel clamps are tight and that the fuel lines are good. ( On a very quiet day I would try to crank and then listen- would hear a very faint mosquito type air leak in my fuel line.) replaced it and all was good. May also consider checking the fuel tank for a clogged fitting going to the fuel line by removing the fuel line from it and seeing if fuel flows out.
