Howdy,

Recently purchased a good used 09' camo worksite rtv900, came with lots of extras including front boot guards.
Very pleased with it.

Does kubota make a heater for my year model still?
What are yall using for spare tire holders?
Is there an aftermarket hitch mount out there? If not I can weld one up.

Howdy back Tx-rtv900. :) Welcome to the best RTV forum around. :) Did your rtv not come with the hitch mount? . There is an adapter available that turns the smaller mount hole into a 2"er. Later in the year models they started making a 2" basic. I bought a hitch and ball at wal mart and just cut a bit of length off of the 2 incher to allow it to fit my 2011, but my old 2005 had the smaller hitch mount...
I don't carry a spare but use tire sealant and carry a plug kit- recently had to use it on both my Kubota and truck. Unfortunately . the hole was too big on the bota- and on the edge of the tire, so off in the morning to get my new tires mounted on the second set of rims.
I have an open air cab but am sure you can still find a heater out there. best to you , bordercollie

Yes it comes with the 1 1/4" hitch mount, but all my hitches are 2".
I can buy the adapter. I saw one sold on ebay that replaces the back panel and protects the filters back there. Also has safety chain mounts underneath the receiver. Thats for the x model though. I can fab up safety chain mounts on one of my 2" receivers.

What does the optional add on hand throttle do?

Welcome to the clan, I bought an '06 900 about a year ago, loving it. If you are near a Harbor Freight they have 1 1/4 hitches and adapters. I bought two 1 1/4 bars and put a clevis on the other end.

I don't have the hand throttle on my 2011 model. It was useful , from what I have read, though, Will let others that have it answer. The adapter I'm talking about is like Shinnery was saying. It is a piece of solid steel bar that slips into the 1 1/4 hitch receiver. Then it has a 2" receiver welded on it. It sticks out though and is a shin killer , esp on the front. bordercollie

I own an 04 with the 1 1/4" receiver. By the time you buy and adapter, Just buy a 1 1/4 mount, put whichever ball size on it and tow away.

If it has a cab, a small catalytic heater that fits in the cup holder works well for me in Michigan. If you don't have a cab, I'm not sure a heater will do you much good. My 04 doesn't really generate a lot of heat until I really push it hard plowing snow. I ran most of the winter with out a cooling fan and I didn't notice it until I saw the heat gauge rising when I was plowing a very wet snow. I slowed down a bit and the temp dropped.

Thought it was a bad fan but it was the temp sensor in the engine. Replaced it and the fan hardly kicked on the rest of the winter.

Welcome

Welcome aboard.........For me, I am with Avanti Guy above. Got a 1 1/4" receiver and got one my spare balls on it to pull away on whatever I wanted.......a 16' flatbed with 5 six foot rolls of hay, a couple of cords of wood, my tl2300 Iseki tractor and on and on........it works......
Just now did a "search" in the place up there at the top and came up with like a page or so of threads about "hand throttle".......Yes, they are nice to have, easy to install, and a few dollars out of my social security check..........Lots of stuff for you to find out and use.......God bless...Dennis

The hand throttle allows you to control the engine speed independent of the "accelerator pedal". I use mine for situations where I like to keep the engine rpm 'up' while using the pedal to control ground speed......eg snow plowing, hauling heavy loads etc.

BTW welcome to the best RTV forum.

Hi tx_rtv900,
Check out pictures on some of my earlier posts. I made a spare tire rack that mounts to My 2010 RTV900's front bumper. Got supplies at the local Home Depot.

Found pictures of tire rack.

good pic. :tiphat: Where did you find that nice rack for the front? Very nice. Would come in handy for sure. :thumb:

Doc, I found my post from 2.5 years ago about the hood rack:
I just ordered a Great Day UVFR751 Hood Rack for my 2010 RTV 900. The best price I could find on the internet was, believe it or not, Linen N Things.
The price was $189 with free shipping.

Whered you get that top rack? Looks every useful.
Ill have to try building the spare tire mount you built.

Welcome

Interesting you mentioned about temp. I went up a very steep steep hill(something I wouldnt do in a jeep) today in low several mins and the temp needle was getting close to the red but, I didnt let it get over heated. I stopped let it cool off and proceeded up the hill. So after I made it to the top leveled off let it idle for a couple of mins and the temp needle went back down to normal. Drove it for 30 mins the temp needle never moved from normal temperature. Is this normal?

The temp needle rising to and even touching HOT is normal. What would be abnormal would be it NOT falling as you continued to climb the hill. The electric cooling fan for the radiator doesn't kick in until the temp gets HOT......REALLY HOT.....I suggest you climb the same hill, KEEP GOING, let the gauge rise, watch it, and when it gets hot it SHOULD fall back down, rise again, fall again, and on and on........NO NEED to let it idle........

NOW, if none if this happens.......YOU HAVE A PROBLEM........god bless....Dennis

I've looked at the hood racks before, unfortunately they don't make one that well work with the cab models. It sure would be handy to have.

Thanks!! :tiphat: I dug out the link to the rack
http://www.lnt.com/product/blowout-...eat-day-great-day-uvfr751-utv-front-rack.html
unfortunately it does not appear they still sell that item.
I did search great day and found some of their distributors and found some other neat stuff. but not a front rack that is as cheap as the one you found or as useful for my purposes. Will start another thread on this.

I don't know how long my fan didn't work because the 04 temp gauge never went very high maybe the combination of Michigan temperatures and fairly flat terrain. When it got into the red pushing heavy snow, I stopped pushing and lifted the seat to look at the fan. It wasn't turning so I suspected the fan. I pulled the wire of the fan thermo switch on the engine and grounded the wire and the fan kicked on, so I assumed the switch was the issue. I quickly just grounded the wire and added a switch to turn the fan on to finish the plowing.

Ordered a switch from Messick's, Not terribly cheap, but it appears to have solved the problem. The fan now works as expected.

If I have been using my machine and the temp is climbing, then I turn it off, when I turn the key to the accessory position, the fan will hum. A gander at it will make sure though.
I replaced my cooling fan on the 05 many years ago after my fan died. Used a flex a lite 392 I believe . Made a few minor mods to the shroud and it cooled better than the oem ever did.(at a fraction of the price) I have bought one for my 2011 that I will put on when I have time because the temperature , even on a clean radiator, climbs on the oem when I go up a hill and does get close to red. http://www.nettractortalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=13665&highlight=cooling
Long story about that in the thread I started several years ago.. bordercollie
