Gray paint for Bumper advice

Hey Guys..................We have on 05. The previous owner had an untimely death, and in clearing up the estate, we were able to acquire it at a very decent cost. Anyway, the PO must have parked it a lot of the time in a less than dry enviornment as there is rust here and there on the frame and such.

Any ideas on the gray paint used on the frame itself, the bumper, and the ROPS.............We have found that "New Kubota" orange at Tractor Supply is a good match; but need some help on the grays..........thanks Guys.........Dennis

I'm not sure that TSC would have it, but Kubota dealers would have cans of the factory gray.

Kubota does have paint, but just so you know, it's not an exact match in color. As I recall, it's a little lighter. One can of spray paint goes pretty far so that's what I've been using.

I have used Kubota spray paints, the paint sure acts different than other spray paints that we all have purchased in time. My dealer told me this when I purchased it. Purchased to paint the overhead panel for the switches & Golight remotes to fit into. All I can say is, that if you use the Kubota spray, shake the devil out of it, and test fire it on something else before actually dong the job, it took forever for mine to finally start coming out right, and I'm not talking about the spray itself, I'm talking about the way the color was showing up. It would spray a different shade some, and then go into a different shade during the same spray. Next time any spraying is done that has to be the Kubota colors, I'm purchaseing the quarts, and put it in a spray gun. that way I KNOW it's going to come out right and color will be mixed up good. I also own a sign shop, and do spraying on signs for different schemes, Just thew experience , I know that a person will get a better job done, if he gets the quart size and goes that method >>>>>>> Acrylic enamel paint would be the best for the machines !!!!

Wish I would have sprayed a clear coat on my front bumper when I purchased mine almost a year ago.Seeing small rust showing up around the welds on the front brush guard. I would imagine that Kubota contracts the production of the guards. And Kubota should contact them and make 'em put another layer of paint on them. For even if it cost a few dollars more for the extra. It would be worth it for the owner / customer wouldn't have to see rust like that on a new machine ..... I have even seen rust in the welds as soon as they hit the dealerships !!! Maybe not much, but enough for the buyer to see ~~~~~~~~

D&D, try stopping at your local Bobcat dealership, where they sell the skid steers, they will have a pretty close match to the paint, it may be a little darker, they call it black, but it like a very dark grey. Use the touch ups on our Bobcat, you may even try their orange also. I think Bobcat and Kubota have a quite relationship, because their engines are Kubota, and think about what color their trunk doors are, ORANGE, I think the color may match as well. I'll have to try at some point myself.

Thanks Guys...............Was trying to avoid the actual Kubota stuff as I had the same results as Jamie as far as color variations with spray cans................Also was really hoping to be able get something that stops the rust...........

Same as Jamie with the rust on welds but EVERYWHERE............one would think that this unit came out of the North and was run on salted roads...........far from the truth................

Anyway..............will try Brians suggestion about the Bobcat stuff........I guess on the under frame it doesnt matter..........Just get something on it..........But for the bumper........perhaps will pull the hole thing off and spray that...............Thanks.........Dennis

You could also use a glossy black on the bumper. I saw some pictures of someone who had done that and it looked really sharp.

I'v used Rustoleum Charcoal grey with good results, not a perfect match but close and a good paint. jdh1 ps good match for frame, inside floor & rops not front bumper
