Gave the new winch a run for its money.

After making a new trail, that went through a small creek i had run it a few times going the same duerection and decided i would go the other way (the way i had been entering the trail) and see if i could make it. I started fine and was confident but the RTV got stuck, and the front wheels were coming off of the ground. Well there was no tree with in the right distance so i had to go get the truck and winch from the tow eye. I honestly wasnt sure if a 3000 pound winch with no snatch block would to the job, but it pulled me right out!

THANK YOU WARN WINCH!

Now, you see how strong the winches are. Add you a snatch block onto the winch-line. Double your pulling power >>>>for it will make the winch labor much less, that in return will save & extendthe life of the winch !!!

Actually had to use my winch a few weeks ago. Got mud holes all over the place which the RTV goes through quite well most of the time. This one hole must of had a submerged stump which high centered. Could not go front or back. Had the wife with me so she go to stay high and dry while I drug the cable out to a 8 inch tree about 15-20 foot away. I was a little concerned if I would have enough cable as I had never runt it out before. Did not have any chains with me and it was a 1000 foot walk back to the barn for the tractor. But things went well and the winch pulled it right out to higher ground. Will need to invest in a snatch block and one of those tool boxes for the back to keep a few things in.

Been back through the same area several times since but have avoided the stump each time.

Uncle Doug,

Use several of these Rubbermaid Action Packer Storage Boxes. They are the PERFECT for the " backup-tools" >>>

The Rubbermaid Action Packers come in several sizes... 8, 24, 35, 48 gallon .....

In ours, keep snatch blocks, chains, gloves, paper towels & toilet paper, tools >.. etc ....
When not in use, just pick 'em up and set them out. They are tuff !!!!!

Glad to hear all the winches are working.

May I propose you consider a tree strap and maybe 1 or more 20' nylon straps? That'll save the tree and keep your cable from binding. The 20'ers are to get you more length.

Good idea on the nylon straps. I carry one with me in the truck all the time. The straps are more compact and less weight than a chain.Tractor Supply, Harbor Freight and Northern Tool all carry a wide assortment of straps. Might also want to consider carrying some type of clevis and pins to "tie off" the attach end. You don't want to tie a knot in the nylon strap and then pull against it. If you do, have a sharp knife handy cause thats about the only way to get your knot undone.
