California owners?

Yes, this would be nice to know.I was thinking if the RTV's was a pricey on the west coast as they are way up North >>>>>>>>> I've noticed, that the southern states, from what I've talks to other owners, Kubota equipment sure is alot cheaper for some reason. </P>

Have you tried to 'permit' this vehicle at the DMV? I've been looking thru the Vehicle Code and this may be possible. I plan on going to the DMV tomorrow in fact.</P>

NoIjust run around on farm ground and on the roads with a smv sign. are you talking about the off road permits like you get with atv's and motorcycles?</P>

I also have a smv sign on mine, but this is a form of registration. It's for an identification plate used on farm vehicles. If the DMV office isn't real crowded, I'll go in and see if I can get one. I'll let you know what happens.</P>

Look at these California Vehicle Code Sections: 385.5, 5014 and 36015.</P>

The RTV can't be registered as anything, according to the DMV. Oh well, I tried.</P>

The lady said however, to carry a copy of the MSO under the seat in case you get pulled over by the law.</P>

I'm a Northern California new member and have recently registered my RTV 900 with DMV as an off road machine. A friend and I both went to DMV along with a representative from our local Kubota dealership and gotter done. My friend did most of the heavy lifting and endured most of the frustration. It seems that the answers you get depends on who you ask. As soon as DMV inspects our machines for serial numbers we should be getting our green off road stickers.

I was talking about getting an identification plate for it. It's a small plate, about the size of a motorcycle plate. It's generally done for farm machinery.</P>

On the Certificate of Origin states that "This vehicle was not manufactured for use on public streets, roads or highways".</P>

A green off-road sticker is for use in the mountains where they are required on some roads (as I understand it).</P>

We got our off road stickers so that we can run the machines on forest service lands without explaining to every "piss fir willie" that comes along what the status of the machine is. I know the plate you are talking about, I have one on my chipper and portable sawmill. It seems the best we can do for now until the state classifies these vehicles.

I think you are talking about the se plate. It limts you to so many miles from your home base. I from Live Oak. just north of Sacramento. Jon[H]</P>

Jon,</P>

It does appear to be a se plate. I don't find in the CVC where there is a mileage restriction, however. Like I said in a previous post, it can't be registered for public roadways.</P>
