Greetings from across the pond . I'm hoping that you guys can help with a wiring problem . I have fitted a new B & S engine 21B977 ( 0156B1 ) to my Murray garden tractor . The new engine has red & yellow wires from the regulator . The yellow wire is connected to the black & is presumably the input . I also have a black & grey wire going into a joint female connector . I'm presuming that this is a regulated DC system . The old engine 284707 ( 014701 ) has a black lead from the stator ( ? ) & black & red leads going into a double connector ( dual circuit ? ). What I can't figure out is how to connect the new engine to the wiring harness on the tractor which has a yellow wire ( the kill switch ? ) & black ( DC ? ) & white (AC ?) wires into a double connector . I have looked at the B&S alternator replacement guide but i cant work out which of these wires I'm supposed to be connecting to what . Hopefully one of you guys can explain this in simple terms which even I can understand ! Thanks . Mark

Sorry, but I know little to nothing about the wiring, but wanted to say hello, & welcome to the forum! Hopefully, somebody will be by shortly that can give ya the info.

Hi Mark. Welcome to Net Tractor Talk. I also wanted to welcome you to our forums. Glad you decided to join us.
I don't have an answer for you but I wonder if you can do away with the kill switch and eliminate one of the wires all together?
